Can anyone please help with our Chick family search. There is no mention of the parents names for all the below Chick family, I live in New Zealand.
I'm searching for two CHICK sister's Edith Georgina (aka Girlie) and Isabella (aka Belle) they were inseprable sister’s and never married. Both born between 1840 to 1855 in either Somerset West or Channel Island, or Devon. There is also mention of a Alice, Nellie, & Albert Chick, not sure if they are brother's and sister's of the above. But all metioned within this same family.
It say's there is six different Chick braches direct from this main Chick family, all having origin in the Channel Island and Somerset West & Devon.
My ggrand father was George Henry CHICK b. 19 April 1847 and arrived in New Zealand on the ship Challenge or Challenger on the 20 July 1869 as the Second Stewart. George Chick said he was a Farmer and had served his time at sea in Merchant Navy. The ship left London on the 10 April 1869, the captian was a Captian Lovell, there were 28 passengers on board, ship was 670 Tons.. because he died at sea in a ship wreck there is no death certificate..
My greatgrand-father maybe the brother of the two above sisters, and he also had elder brother "John Chick" who also came to NZ before George.
All died in New Zealand. All the above information was found in a Book on the Chick family in a NZ Library Book called "From Waste Land to Wealth" in Otara, New Zealand, by Joan Macintosh in the early 1900's, the history was given by George Henry Chick before his death in 1894 in a ship wreck. He was my greatgrand-Father. There are many pages on this "Chick" family. I can't find a birth certificate for George Chick with out knowing who his parents were because there are so many George Chicks...
Thank you.
