He was the son of Eleanor Hays and Francis Chick., and a Ggrandson of Daniel Boone. He was a Confederate soldier with Robertson's Reg. MO State Guards, Snider's Battalion, MO Cav. and/or Clark's Reg. MO Infantry. He is listed in the 1850 and 1860 Callaway Co., MO censuses but not after that. He may have died in the Civil War but one source suggests he went to Christian Co., KY. The 1870 Christian Co. census lists a William H. Chick, b. abt 1835, KY with wife Narcissa McGee and infant. They aren't in Christian Co. in 1880.
There is a William Chick, b. abt 1835 MO in Missouri, Boone Co., MO with a young wife, Katy, several stepchildren and a son, Jessie Chick, b. 1879
MO.
It's possible his first name was William, named after his Grandfather William Hays who m. Susannah Boone.
Any help will be appreciated.
