Hi cousin!,
I am a great great grandson of Charlie Anson Chick and LaPatre Jane Hill. I believe my grandfather, Clarence Chick, grew up with your folks. In fact, I have met some Wheelers (possibly you?) in Oklahoma, but sadly, I don't know who. I was only 14 at the time. My grandfather has confirmed that the CD I have from World Family Tree is correct. It shows that Charlie Anson Chick was born 1872 and died at only 27 in 1899. He was the son of James Henry Chick (1833-1909) and Darcus Jane Greenwell (1835-1918). He had many brothers and sisters...Mary M. Chick, Elizabeth Chick, Robert Greenwell Chick, Emma Chick, Fanny M. Chick, Francis Marion Chick, William P Chick and Ella Caroline Chick.
LaPatre's parents were Eli Hill (1822-1875 or 1914) and Margaret Francis Lowery (1813-1838 or 1874). I will give you the title of the CD I have as it shows nearly all of the Chick, Wheeler and Hill families. Hope this helps.

Hi David.Have you any data on any family left behind when my GGGr John Chick and his Wife Philadelphia nee Collins emmigrated to South Africa in 1850. They lived in Goudhurst Kent until about 1848 and the Hampstead until they emmigrated. John and Philadelphia were both born in 1814 and married in 1841. They left on the ship HV Hebrides. I visited "Chicks Farm " in Chicks Lane Goudhurst and was told by the present owner that they thought that the Chicks had emmigratecd to North America. I am left in limbo and cannot make any further progress. A reply would be appreciated. E.Mail cyrilchick(a)aol.com

Hi David. I believe the vast majority of CHICKS came from Somerset. My GrGrGrandfather JOHN CHICK born in 1814 and who lived in Goudhurst Kent married PHILADELPHIA COLLINS IN 1841. They emmigrated to South Africa in 1850 on board the ship HV HEBRIDES. They had four Sons and two Daughters. I am fairly confident that they must have come from Somerset at some earlier stage although I am led to believe that the Chicks came from the Reinlands with one of the early invasions and subsequently moved with invasions that came thereafter . Your reaction will be appreciated. Regards Cyril Chick
