Hi Daniel,
I sure wish that you would contact me via email...you said to email you if I had questions. <pennypit(a)yahoo.com>
I have printed out and read the 40 pages that you posted here, and it was most fascinating reading....and I sure wish that it were all really my family tree. However, in further research into the names you provide from Charity Scudder and her parents back......there are a couple problems that make it so my Scudder line is probably different from the one that you ran for me on the tree that you have.
but I will always have you to thank for having heard of my Lewis Chichester.....he sure is nowhere on the internet!
Here is where we differ:
1. "The Pilgrim", Thomas Rogers, (that you have on your tree as b. 11 July 1587 in England and died Bet Sept 30, 1657-June 19, 1658 in Salem) actually perished in that first winter at Plymouth....he is mentioned in many websites dedicated to the Mayflower society....and other sites as well. They all have documents written by Pilgrims that mention Thomas Rogers death that first winter in America.
2. They also have a different wife for Thomas Rogers. You have Elizabeth "Elsgen" Coolidge Makin. They all have a different Elizabeth, who was still alive in Leiden, Holland with 2 of their daughters at the time of Thomas Roger's death in America.....so he could not have remarried anyone else Janurary 24, 1615/16 in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands.
3. So, if this Thomas Rogers is the one who goes back to the Courtenay family, and finally all the way to the KIngs of England, Scotland, France and Germany....that is one thing, but he is not the Pilgrim.
4. As for my family of Scudders being attached to this Thoms Rogers, several people and places on the web have told me that my Moses Scudder b. March 05, 1761 married to Jemima Lewis b. June 19, 1765 has a father named Jonathan Scudder b.May 11, 1737 married January 02, 1760 to Elizabeth Sammis b.October 02, 1737 (all in Huntington, LI, NY)-
The tree that you posted here has a Jonathon III Scudder b. 1709-10 married to Elizabeth Sammis b. bet 1715-1745.
Now, I would never have known the difference in these 2 Jonathon marriages, but that the Scudder Society folks have answered my emails with Scudder Newsletters that support the idea that MY Scudder family tree may be related to yours, but they are not the same.
5. According to the Scudder Society, My Jonathan Scudder b.May 11, 1737 married January 02, 1760 to Elizabeth Sammis b.October 02, 1737 has a father named Moses Scudder b. 1709 and married to Mary Smith.
Now, how I wish that I was on that tree that goes back to the kings and queens, lords and ladies.....but, unfortuneately, I cannot find any real evidence of that being the case.
I followed that same line that you placed here on the web at:
http://www.genpc.com/gen/files/d0038/f0000007.html
from Thomas Rogers and Grace Elizabeth Makin all the way back to the 900's....and it matched your own tree pretty true. They had posted a lot of sources....and they made a lot of sense....so I copied it all down. THEN....I found out that my Jonathon is not the same as your Jonathon III....so therefore I cannot trace myself back to Sarah Rogers..Samuel Rogers....James Rogers....Thomas Rogers.....etc.
I thank you for sending me what you did find.....and I still hope that someday you will tell me where it came from and what sources they quote......there is always the chance that YOUR tree is the true one. That would be nice.
But, please correct the Thomas Rogers as a Pilgrim.
By they way, are you related to Ezra Stonecypher or the Phenie Stonecypher in my Pittard family?

Hi Daniel,
I am the person who put that online.....my handle is pennypit and I have placed a lot of family tree on ancestry.com and world family tree. Much of the Pittard info originated with my cousin Anne Bowden....the rest I hunted from many, many sources.
I would love to be able to find anything about my Lewis Scudder Chichester that will link him to the many huge Chichester trees online.....just do not have any proof of any connections yet.
Thanks so much for what you sent here....and please email me at pennypit(a)yahoo.com if you would like to exchange information.
