Cindy,
Try looking in the 1860 Census - Town of Hempstead, County of Queens, New York. Believe I located them in Dwelling 2190 (page 294 if you have the Ancestry census subscription).
Lists William Chichester (50), Cornelia C. (50), Samuel (24), George W. (14), William (11), and the elusive Daniel L. (9).
Think there may have also been a sister, Sarah M.
Good luck. Keep in touch.
Shari

Any one have a Louise V Chichester in their line? She would have been in VA, born around 1910-11.

Clarence Anderson & Thelma Chidester Anderson (FHL US/Can 929.273C432a)
states Samuel Chidester was married to Mahabel/Mehitable/Mabel Tuller 17 Dec
1719 Simsbury, Hartford, CT (this can be easily checked by the Barbour
Collection which you will find in most libraries). This book says "Samuel
was evidently attracted to the prospering copper mines of Simsbury.......the
year 1722, he had enough capitol to buy property in nearby Waterbury,
Hartford Co." It says they moved to Roxbury around 1735, that Mehitable died
27 Mar 1761 and her son, Samuel, was executor of her estate and cits
"Indenture and Inventory rec. from State of New Jersey, State Library,
Trenton, NJ.
>From "A History of Randolph Township, Morris County's First Bicentennial
Community" Edited by Richard T. Irwin, p62-4. "Chidester Family" by Elmer C.
Anderson. He says James Chichester, Jr. descendants migrated to New Jersey
about 1745 and settled in Morris County. He says Samuel (s/o of James) m.
Mehitable Tuller, d/o of John and Elizabeth Case Tuller Simsbury, CT 19 Dec
1718. "Samuel somehow got the spelling Chidester". The author seems to have
a family bible which gives a lot of the information he cites. He also found
in the court house records of Newtown, CT a document dated 1769 "Moses
Chitester, son of Andrew Chitester, son of Samuel Chitester, son of David
Chitester, son of James Chitester, son of James Chitester" which goes to
James Chichester of Huntington. This account goes on to tell a little about
Mehitable and her descendants. If you want to e-mail me, I'd be happy to
mail you a copy of it.
Cheers,

Yes, please. I have very little information about your branch of the family and would like to know as much as possible. My dates for Mahabel or Mehitable Tuller are as follows: dob 22 Feb 1698/99, Simsbury, Hartford, CT; dod 27 Mar 1761 Roxbury, Morris, NJ. I've seen her date of marriage variably as 17 Mar 1719, 28 Oct 1719, 17 Dec 1719, and now 12 Dec 1719, Simsbury, Hartford, CT, obviously a point for research. I don't know how she got to NJ as I have no knowledge of Samuel Chidester or his line of work,
There are Tullers in and around WI as we speak. I'm trying to contact them and fill in some of those blanks in my tree also. Thanks for your offer of help. .... Ken Tuller

The information I have on Chidester lineage is as follows:
David Chidester (no birthdate) married Alice Bayley 22 Dec 1898 Huntington, Suffolk Co. L.I. N.Y.; died ca 1712 Wallingford, New Haven, CT. They had three sons: Samuel, David, William (possibly other children). My direct line is through son Samuel (no birth date) baptised Waterbury, New Haven Co. CT 31 Mar 1729; married Mahabel TULLER 12 Dec 1719 in Simsbury Hartford Co. CT. (I don't have a date of death). Samuel and Mahabel had Andrew, William, Samuel, and Elijah and possibly others. My direct line is through the son Elijah. I do not have further information on Andrew, William and Samuel at this time. Elijah was married to Mary Hopelar and had a number (I have a list of 8) of children, one being Moses who married to Esther (Hesta) Way in Litchfield Ct 1814. Moses and Esther are in Otsego Co. NY where their children were born, later moving to Wisconsin and Michigan. Moses (d. 1862) and Esther (d. 1863) are buried in South Haven, Van Buren Co. MI. My line is through th!
eir son David who was b. 1824, married Ruth Celina Reed 14 Feb 1849 d. 1902 Dunkirk Dane Co. WI. David and Ruth migrated to WI very shortly after they were married in 1849 as they purchased land in Dunkirk in 1849.
If you are interested in further info-names, dates, places; please let me know...............Millie
