Hi all. Thought some of you would be very interested in this. A Crenshaw
cousin passed this on to me. We are very interested in the Chaney that
come from or came to any of the places mentioned in the following.
I hope someone knows more about this:

Crenshaw (formerly Catherine CHANEY) of Jackson County, State of Indiana,

attorney to receive anything due us or to make any necessary deeds in the
State of Virginia. Dated 3 April 1821. Recorded 4 July 1821. Charlotte

State of Georgia, in the right of my wife Susannah D. Mayne, formerly
Susannah Chaney, do appoint Reuben Chaney of Charlotte County, State of
Virginia, my lawful attorney, for me in my name and in the right of my
wife, to demand and receive from the executors or administrators of the
estate of William Chaney, deceased, (or others in charge of said estate),
my said distributive share in the estate in the right of my wife Susannah
D. Mayne. Dated 10 Nov 1823. Recorded 5 Jan 1824. Charlotte County Deed

Any comments or thoughts about this one? I have some idea what line this comes
thru perhaps. But it is really just guess work at this point.

Hi,
This is in reference to Dawna's recent post.
Is there any info that states whether William, Reuben, and/or James Chaney
lived in Abbeville District, SC? I have the same names in my notes for the
time period 1790's to 1840's. I am having difficulty sorting out the family
relationships of these people.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Suzanne
Hello everyone,
Can someone tell me if CHANAY could be a mispelling of CHANEY?
In 1830 Grainger Co, TN there is an ABRAHAM, WILLIAM, GEORGE,
JOHN, and JAMES CHANAY.
In Sumpter Co TN, 1830
James CHANY 2,1,1,0,0,0,1 1,0,1,1,0,1
Moses CHANY 0,1,2,2,0,0,1 2,0,1,1,0,1
Thanks,
Dawna
Still soliciting ideas for the website.
I would especially request assistance from our Cheney researchers. We can
post certain information regarding the tie between the two branches and how
they settled in the UK before and after William's visit in 1066.

Two part question:
1) Can someone tell me the copyright laws in UK as they relate to copying
text and putting it on a genealogical website, that is not for profit.
Specifically, I would like to include excerpts from books published in 1931
and 1943 on the Cheyne Family and include addition information regarding
that family. All this would be included on the Rootsweb Cheyne website.
Acknowledgement of the source(s) would be given.
2) How would one contact the authors or their heirs to obtain permission to
use the said works. I believe that both publishers are no longer in
business.
The two books are A. Y. Cheyne's The Cheyne Family in Scotland and W. D.
Cheyne's The Cheynes of Inverugie, Esslemont and Arnage.... Can anyone on
this list assist me in finding the person(s) to obtain this permission?

Anyone know about these 2?
My line might be named aft them. I am very interested in knowing more about
them. Only enumerated in the county in 1840. Not any other year. Where did
they go aft that?
Hi all,
Goodo. Just the ticket. Let's all have a page which is easily
accessable for all to connect to others.

I have taken a class on FrontPage (a Website authoring program) and I now
know enough to be very dangerous. I would VERY MUCH like your input as to
what you would like to be on the site.
* Do you have a history that you would like to post?
* Do you have a website that you would like to be linked?
* How about a page of new additions to the family? New Marriages?
* How about a page for each of us and a list of other family that you are
searching?
* Does anyone have a moving GIF file of the St. Andrew or Rampant Lion flag?
* Do you have other neat stuff that can be incorporated?
Please pass on your thoughts, suggestions, ideas, or whatever.

parish registers, civil registrations and other record collections in
England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The records on the index span
more than three centuries, from 1538 to 1888. The 5 CD's in this set
concentrate on birth and christening records (4 discs) and also list
some marriages (1 disc). It is priced at $15 US.
