Dear Dianne,
In my family line, I have a woman by the name of Elizabeth Ijams who was
married to Samuel Duvall. Elizabeth was born in 1670 in Maryland. She was
the daughter of William Ijams (d. 1699 in Maryland) who had married Elizabeth
Cheyney (I have seen this Cheyney spelling done in different ways).
Elizabeth Cheyney Ijams parents were Richard Cheyney who married a woman
named Charity (?). Is this Cheyney family the same one you are referring to
from Maryland?
Any information you could give me about them would be most helpful.
Thank you,
Linda Leebron

My husband has several Greenberry Chaney's in his lineage. Mostly they were in
Georgia & Alabama. I feel certain they tie into the Greenberry Chaney - son of Charles
son of Richard Chaney in Maryland. Is anyone else working on the Greenberry lineage.
If so please write.

I received the following biography of the Joseph Chaney who settled in
Muskingum Co., OH near the Coshocton Co., OH border from Margaret Neal,
Baltimore, MD. Is anyone else descended from him? Who wrote the bio?
How accurate is it? Only a portion of the bio is printed here.
Nichol Valley, Ohio
Joseph Chaney
Joseph Chaney was born in Anne Arundel County, MD in 1736.
His great-grandfather came from England with Lord Baltimore in 1632.
His father, Joseph, was a farmer in moderate circumstances. In 1758,
he married Miss Elizabeth Benson, an English woman. There were
born unto them the following children: Joseph, Thomas, Rachel,
Comfort, Ruth, Elizabeth, Sophia, Margaret and Nancy. In the fall of
1810, they came to Ohio in the caravan and settled on Owl Creek, Knox
Co., Ohio. In the fall of 1811, they came to Muskingum Co. and settled
three and one half miles north of Frazeysburg, on the farm now
occupied by Joseph Chaney heirs. His cabin stood within a few feet of
where the old house now stands. His wife fell dead while milking, at
the
age of 65, and was buried on the farm now owned by Lewis Chaney on
the hill south of his residence, in what is now the peach orchard.
Mrs. Chaney was well qualified to brave the hardships of a
pioneer life. She was noted for her industry, economy, and thrift, as
well
as a devoted wife and mother. Mr. Chaney lived where he settled until
his death which occurred in 1832, at the advanced age of 96 and was
buried by the side of his wife.

Hi Seekers: Found a neat site to search for Cemeteries/Graveyards.
Listed in alphabetical order - and, also by state. It's titled, The
Political Graveyard:
http://www.potifos.com/tpg/index.html
Don't be fooled by the name.
It is much more than politicians' final resting places, and there are
some details how (for whom)the cemetery was named. There are also links
to other cemetery data sites. Some of the links also have the "tiger
map" ability, for the general area around the cemetery location. I just
think it is a neat site and just wanted to share.
Good hunting - Good Luck!

Dear Cheyne cousins,
If you haven't seen the updated CHEYNE Home Page, I invite you to visit
http://www.rootsweb.com/~cheyne/
and give me some feedback. I am interested in whatever comments you might
have and will be pleased to receive any suggestions you might recommend.
Some browsers don't see things the way mine (Netscape) does. If you see
anything that looks strange, please contact me.
Wendy Chizek has supplied me with the names of many of the list subscribers
of the CHEYNE-L list and their lines. I'm sure that many of you would like to
have your lines listed. If so, see the CHEYNE page and check out the URL
entitled,
"Cheyne Family Researchers and Their Lines".

Dear Cousins,
After a brief hiatus in cyber space, The CHEYNE Home Page is back up.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~cheyne/
I requested that space be provided for our page nearly five months ago.
As you may be aware, RootsWeb (and its predecessor, Maiser) underwent
some trying times due to spam attacks, power outages, lightning and lack
of server space. We are the first family page to be put on line.
Not much has changed from the previous version but more work is required
to make it as helpful and professional in appearance as I would like. I
encourage you to visit the page and offer suggestions as to what can be added
or changed.
Wendy Chizak has compiled a list of subscribers and their ancestral lines. I
would like to put this on line but am asking for your permission before I do.
If any of the folks that receive this post have not identified their lines
and would
like to do so, please contact me or Wendy (chizekw(a)titanlink.com).
Many thanks for your support,
--Derick
