Jay:
At one time, during the 1980's, we must have written some genealogy notes about the Texas Chewning's. Samuel Dobbs Chewning would be my great uncle. He was in the Samuel and Emma Chewning family, living in Texas around Quannah and Grayson county area.
I started genealogy research around 1980, actually, we were living in Houston, Texas. This was before using a computer, just manually gathering of information, in various libraries ! At this time, a Tom Chewning of Cantonment, Florida wrote a number of letters, you may have corresponded with him too. Going back to the Alabama days, the history of Samuel Chewning, William Chewning, John J. Chewning, and Samuel Chewning of Baldwin County, Georgia.
I would be glad to share notes on Samuel Dobbs Chewning and other Chewnings, which we are both no doubt related to.
Sincerely,
Lynn Chewning Metzger
