Thank you so very much. This was indeed the person I was looking for. I happen to have his SSN and DOB, so there is no doubt. I am sadden to hear he's passed. He was my husbands father. My husband never met him. Mr Chewning was stationed in the Army in Germany in the mid 60's. My husband was born in Dec 1965. Mr Chewning left Germany shortly after and my husband's mother lost touch with him. My husband and her mother migrated to the US in the late 70's. His father whereabouts always haunted by husband, but he was afraid to look for him. Thanks again for the information. Have a blessed day.

Hi, THe Christ Church parish register has *uel Chowning son of George and Ruth Chowning was born June 15th 1752. And the Daughters of the American Revolution DAR has an application for Samuel b. 1752 Middlesex Co., VA d. 1808 Baldwin Co., wife Mary who died AL. And the DAR has a separate patriot for Samual Chowning who was born 1723 in Middlesex Co., Va and d. 1816 in Caroline Co. VA. You can purchase a copy of the applications but I would be more interested in the documents that were used to prove the people!
The only George I see in my "quick reference chart" is George the son of George b. 1688 and his second wife Martha Tugwell(spelling?). That George was born around 1727 which makes a child Samuel being born in 1752 possible.
