Hi,
I am looking for information on my Grandmother's parents. My Grandmother's birth name was Evelyn Rosalie Chewning (b) Nov. 16, 1911 Orange, VA-----(d) Oct. 15, 1997 Webster, NY
1st Married name was E. Rosalie Tygert.
2nd married name was E. Rosalie Harris
Her Father's name supposedly was : John C. Chewning
Mother: Rosalie Gills (sp?) Gilles ? Both from England.
My mother died last year and I don't have much info. on them.
Anything would help, as I have searched all over and found a lot of info on Chewning, but nothing specific...Thanks
Deborah
Dear Stan and Donna,
RE:Chewning from Georgia
My Greatgrandfather was a Jesse Muser Campbell from Decatur GA. That's as far
as I have gotten. He is on the Atoka County Oklahoma census for 1910.
Supposedly his father was "Bill" Campbell who moved from Decatur Georgia to OK
with his Wife Amanda Chewning. In Decatur Georgia (Dekalb County) There were
two plantations that sat next to one another. One was the Chewning and the
other was the Campbells. In 1840 a Campbell came from Virginia and bought
that land. It was common for relatives and friends to move together so maybe
this is your Chewning line.
Search on the internet for the Dekalb County Georgia Historical Society. They
have some searchable indicies. If you don't find anything there then call
them as they are most helpful. Let me know if you find anything interesting.
Yours Truly
Sheila Campbell

Hello,
I am researching my family tree & I have found that my
GGG Grandparents were :
William Fulcher Chewning b.4-28-1805 d.09-30-1858 & Lorena Winaford Lane
b.12-3-1813 d.10-16-1871
GG Grandparents were
Jesse Gwinn Chewning & Emily Ann Shanks
Great Grandparents were:
Orval Feulture Chewning & Minnie Aycock
I really would like to find William Fulcher Chewning's family.
We believe they may have came from Virginia. We think there is a
Chewning/Fulcher connection because of his middle name. His children were born
in Georgia.
Any information on this line would greatly be appreciated.

My husband's aunt, Elva Dell Dora Fulcher's third husband's surname was Aycock. I do not have any information on him other than the surname. I cannot make a connection between your Chewning or other surnames other than these two. Just thought it was interesting. Aunt Dell was born in 1915 and died in 1999.
