I'm looking to connect with anyone that is researching the Chew family that once lived in Lexington / St. Louis Missouri. Leah was born in December 1883 and died in Texas.

This is the chinese character from my surname. Great grandfather is from Shanghai but we have no more connections with anyone there. My Chinese Malaysian friends describe the chinese character of my surname as a word derived from 'banana' or *chiau* in mandarin and that it is rather uncommon.

Message Board Post:
I am trying to trace the family of Obadiah Chew. Obadiah Chew was born in Blackburn in about 1879. He died in Blackburn in July 1914. His wife was Annie Brooks. Their son, Thomas Chew, was born (in Blackburn) in 1902. Obadiah Chew was my great uncle, the brother of my grandmother.
Obadiah and Annie Chew lived on Hawkshead Road in Blackburn. Their neighbours were James Riley and his wife , Elizabeth Chew.( Elizabeth was Obadiah's sister.)
Obadiah Chew's parents were Thomas Chew ( 1851-1908) and Jane Gardner ( 1850 -1918).
I welcome any help that might be given in response to this note.
