Unfortunately, I entered that information before I started tracking my
sources diligently, so I can't tell you much more than what's there.
I do not, in particular, know if he had a son in addition to the two daughters I list.
You ought however with a little detective work be able to track down
one of his great-...nephews, and see if they know about the WW2 vet.

I am searching for a veteran of WW2 who served in the 561st Field Artillery Battalion of the US Army. He would have been born between 1903 and 1928.
The 561st FA Bn served in Europe starting with their landing on Utah Beach on June 30, 1944, and most of the unit left Europe from Le Harve, France in July, 1945. They barely avoided capture at the Battle of the Bulge in late 1944.
I have the following on Chester I Chew:
NARA AAD rank 1LT
NARA AAD serial number 1035431
NARA AAD county/state at time of enlistment Commanche/OK
NARA AAD place of enlistment FT Sill, OK
NARA AAD date of enlistment 12/16/1940
NARA AAD native state KS
SSDI possible last known location Des Moines, Polk, IA
SSDI possible state issued SSN IA
1930 Census possible location Des Moines, Polk, IA
1930 Census possible native state IA
There were about 500 men in the battalion, and I started with a roster of the battalion that had been developed some years ago by living veterans at the time. I have first names, middles initials, and last names on most of the men. There are some with no middle initial and a few where all I've got is a last name.
I have the county/state of origin at the time of enlistment in the Army only if it is shown above. I do have all the data I can gather from the Social Security Death Index, the 1930 Census, the NARA AAD database, and the Registry page of the National World War 2 Memorial web site. In all of these sites, I usually get multiple listings for any name I enter, so that by itself doesn't always narrow my search to an individual.
I have many letters out to people based on the little information I do have for a growing number of the names on my roster.
My real interest is where are these men today? And in cases where the veteran is deceased, where are any descendants or family members?

Does anyone have current contact information for Kristi Williams Wilson, or an updated web address?
Thanks for responding, John. Yes, I do have more info. on Leanna Chew, her siblings, etc. I'll send it along to you. My problem was that I didn't know that Samuel Chew and Ann Ayers had more than one child. No wonder I was having trouble figuring out how things fit together!
I'd still love to hear from anybody else who is researching the descendents from Col. Samuel's son William, especially the Benjamin line.

Your ancestress Leanna Chew is listed in my online database at
http://poslfit.homeip.net/cgi-bin/genea2.pl?id=14160
I originally found information about this branch of the Chew family in online material published by Kristy Wilson Williams, who sounds like the person to contact about this. If you have additional information about Chews that I can add to my database, please e-mail me privately.
