Shirley Thanks a lot for responding. Many printed sources say that Goodrich Lightfoot's wife Mary was a Chew, but the source you cite and the new book by Morton Calling All Lightfoots are the only ones that give her parents as Benjamin Chew and Elizabeth Benson ofMaidstone Plantation in Anhne Arundel Co. The Lightfoot Family Newsletter warned that there is no actual proof that Mary was a Chew, but since reading Morton I decided to tentatively accept it. It makes John Chew of Jamestown (imm. 1622) my earliest immigrant ancestor. Thanks again

You asked which ship he sailed on. I believe it was "The Charity" from England.

I am seeking father of our Joshua Chew born in maryland. Cemetery records give father as Frederick Chew but can't verify. Story goes Joshua born MD ca 1771; father went to PA., to look over some land, was killed by Indians. Does anyone have Joshua as their relation? He removed to Virginia, then to Ohio where he died.
Need lots of help.
Thank you,
PLS
