Re: old house in Bass River owned by Issac Louis Berry and Martha Chew Berry where Chew account books were found. Are you the present owner of that old house or do you know who owns the property? I have seen the house from the road and worry that the contents are going to ruin. Is there a caretaker for that property? I'd hate to see the house destroyed. Betsy Newbury

My direct line runs through Elisha Dunham Chew through his son Elijah W. Chew. There sure were plenty of Elishas to choose from right around then (!) and which one "Uncle Elisha" refers to probably depended upon who did the labeling.
If those two photos might be Elisha Dunham Chew, I would appreciate seeing copies. I've run into a number of researchers and none of us have any old family photos.
Thanks,
Lisa
