Mary, I think that I am also descended from Morris Rees Chew. He had a daughter, Harriett, that married a William Smith. Their daughter, Harriet Maybeth Smith, married Alfred Clark Hartson, my GG Grandfather. As my grandmother tells it, Alfred and Harriet moved up to a farm near Walla Walla with her parents, in the 1877 timeframe. Alfred and Harriet split, and it is believed that Harriet died in the San Francisco earthquake (hence, not much family info has been passed down). Would love to share any information.
