When I saw that word Money, I went flying for my Pearl Tozour Chew book (see my other post of Aug. 20, 2002)
Let's thank your "Aunt Pearl" for including mentions of Albertson and Money in her extensive notes! See if any of this fits for you:
"Richard Chew of Bluebell died in 1814. He married Ann Albertson March 10, 1766 and they had one son, William. In 1768, Richard of Bluebell lived near the coal landing on the South Branch of Timber Creek, near the farm of the second and third Richards (see Cheesman deed, Woodbury NJ). ((NOTE from DLS- This probably means Gloucester County courthouse in Woodbury, but could mean the G.C. historicaal society.))
"His second wife was Susannah Money Thomlinson (sic) daughter of Adam Money. Their children were: Thomas, Michael, Robert, Susan, John, Patience (born 1798, died 1889, married Acquilla Downs Tamazon.)
"In 1796 this Richard and Susannah sold their Timber Creek farm to Michael Fisher and lived for a time in Bluebell. He is buried at the "Lake" near a branch of Hospitality Branch of Great Harbor River. ((NOTE from DLS-- I have been to the old "Lake" cemetery. There is no lake nearby, and no one seems to know why it and the church that once stood nearby, were named Lake.)
"Susannah Money had married first, Samuel Tomlinson (sic) in 1783 at Pittsgrove Baptist Church, Daretown, N.J., and as the widow of Tomlinson married Richard Chew in 1785 at the First Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa. " -- page 188.
Will one of you Chew followers kindly return the favor of looking out for any mention of Langleys (who also owned land on Timber Creek and were associated with Pittsgrove Baptist) should you go see those deeds or other records directly?

(Sit down; this is a long one.) Sorry, but to my knowledge, only a few dozen copies went around her large family and no more were printed. I told her son I would be glad to go buy a book, but that was his understanding. That's why he loaned a personal copy, which I then photocopied with his permission (253 pages). He also said she gave everything to the LDS, so that may be another inroad for you.
This, Pearl's only book, is not indexed, and is actually a reprinting of miscellaneous notes. One or more of her children apparently took her materials to a printer in P.T. Chew's declining days as a surprise, but it is unfortunately obvious that no one proofread before it went to print. Its "publisher" is merely a "vanity press," (i.e., pay your own way). The family must have wrongly assumed that someone proofread at printers. (They don't, even today!)
There is much material on the Virginia Chews, starting with John Chew of Clinton, 8 miles from Wells in Somerset County. P.T.C. writes that he set ashore about 1622 on Hoggs Island, opposite James Towne, Va. This John was "supposed" to be son of John Chewe, gentleman, of Worcestshire, Eng., about 1549-1640, because he referred to a son John in his will.
Interestingly, I see Richard Stevens Clement as an incorporator for James City (same as Jamestown?) in 1623, so maybe that's where the Chews picked up the Clement first name.
P.T.C. follows a John presumed to be from Va., showing up in Hempstead in Long Island, NY (no year). He married Mrs. Margaret Gale, then later m. Anne Gates (dau of Stephen Gates and Ann Hill) but doesn't clarify whether these marriages were in Va. or NY. Apparently, this John d. in 1672. However, she notes a probable error in previous accounts, in that there is a generation missing. Pearl's latest thinking (in the 1980s, I believe) was that the John who d. in 1640 was the father of the John who went to Jamestown, who in turn was the father of the John who went to Long Island NY. (So, could that Hill be one of yours, from Va.?)
Later, two Long Island sons wound up in Gloucester County, NJ, and (from my interpretation) at least two daughters. If you have any of the NJ data from other sources, please look at Richard's dau Mary. M's years are not noted, but the author notes she was married to John Martin 1688-1761 in "Greenwich, Gloucester County." There is both a Greenwich Twp. in G. County and a tiny historic town of Greenwich in Salem county, and I really think she meant the latter.
Although P.T. Chew didn't have this fact, Mary married Thomas Langley (my interest) during or after 1761, and was called Mary Langley of Cohansey NJ in her sister Charity's Phila. will. P.T.C. calls Charity "Hannah" for some reason, but if she married a Brown and her brother in law was Owen Owens, I'm sure she's the same lady. (Also, Cohansey is next to the Salem County town of Greenwich, so this is where I base my hunch.) It does not appear that my Thomas Langley and Mary Chew Martin had any children.
If St. Mary's, Maryland is your special interest, I will be glad to transcribe those several pages, OR copy that and more at break-even cost for postage and copying. (In fact, weren't there Langleys in St. M. history too? We have been to St. Michaels, but never St. Mary's.)
My main interest is in the NJ and DE material, from which I plan to write an article combining P.T.C.s work with new reviews of actual documents to authenticate local matters. There is MAJOR interest in the NJ Chews -- even historical houses in Gloucester County, if you check out their website - but no one seems interested in the mysterious Tozours, 3 of whom married us equally-anonymous Langleys.
Pearl Tozour Chew is unfortunately not on the unwritten "revered list" for southern NJ genealogy. However, if you can snail through the typos and disorganization (for which we can't blame her, given that well-meaning children took handwritten notes to a printer) I believe Pearl left us a veritable goldmine.
Her son tells me that only one of his living sisters is what he considers a genealogist, and, being in her 90s, she literally "doesn't get around much." So, they are not concerned if some non-Chews or non-Tozours (another interest of mine) take up her writings and "expand-refute-confirm."
They are Mormons, and as such are even MORE concerned with accuracy than us hobby-genealogists! I forget exactly how I discovered Pearl's son, but her work intrigues me since it is probably the most thorough coverage of NJ Tozour-Tozer-Towser line and bumps into at least two of my Langleys in the process. Seems as if it had my name on it, and the son seemed to have that uncanny feeling also, when we spoke by phone.
To close with your interest in Medieval times, Pearl does trace back through incredible spelling variations (even Tew and Tu) but basically concludes, "The Chews of England were evidently of noble lineage and are said to have descended from the Earl of Hargrave of Chewton, Somerset, England from which place they derive their name. The family escutcheon as brought over by John Chew testifies to the loyalty and bravery being maintained by his descendants."
The Chew Coat of Arms is included in "Virginia Heraldic" by Crozer, she adds.
My snail addy is PO 1908, Dover DE 19903, and my direct e-mail is dol-sol at msn.com. I ask that anyone wanting to reprint or quote from this Post contact me first, as I may by then have errors to note, or some update.

Hi,
Pleased you answered. Could you direct me to a source
where I might purchase a copy? In answer to you question
as having any relatives in Del. or N.J., I don't think
so unless they are related to the Hills of southern
Maryland where Clement arrived in 1672 in St. Marys
county.
Thanks again for the response
Bill Hill from Sperryville, Va.
FYI: Not an advertisement, as it is not my book, there is alot of information on this page to use.
Just found this book on ebay, if you don't want the book some of the family information on the page
might help in your research. They have a photo of the book and many names and dates up there.
The url is:

Hope it helps,
Jamie

Hard to imagine that no one has answered you in all this time.
I DO have a copy of the cited reference, and am in touch with one of her sons (now "up there" in his 80's).
Also am curious --- do your Hills, or any other surnames, have ties to southern NJ or DE?
