James Foss CHEW was finally determined to be many things of interest.
In finding out some about him, I found out about his wife...
I had in the past:
James Foss CHEW married Claudia Unknown.
Now I know that she *went* by Claudia, but her name was Emma Claudia,
and it is *just possible* that her last name was CHEW, even as her
husband's was, thus possibly making Claudia a cousin of her husband.
You may recall her SS information was (and this was verified by her
husband's obituary):
CLAUDIA CHEW
05 Feb 1909
Aug 1987 <-- This turned out to be August 26, 1987
22812 (Bridgewater, Rockingham, VA)
(none specified)
227-01-5734
Virginia
So do any among us know of one Emma Claudia CHEW (by birth) who was
born February 5, 1909 - probably in PA, NY, NJ, or VA. Her husband
had been born in PA and went to Bordentown Military Institute in NJ.
He lived as I recall while schooling in NY, and spent most of his
adult life in Rockingham and Henrico Counties in VA.
Thanks,
Vince Summers
Would anyone have any information on a Thomas C. Chew? I have him in El
Dorado, Union Co., AR in the 1870's connected to my Chandler family by
marriage.
T.C.Chew was a pharmacist and owned a pharmacy there with a Dr. William
Goodwin.
Thanks,
Pam Gregory

Thanks so much; my wife is descended from that Chew-Bond line. We have a letter written by a Susan Robinson (and don't know precisely to whom she relates) in the 1880s, addressed "Dear James" which states that"grandmother Henrietta Maria Chew" had those two husbands, and was "a
Philadelphia Quaker." What we lack is any information on Henrietta's husbands or their children and spouses and descendants. Do you have any information which might fill in those blanks?

Their dau Henrietta was born ca 1731 and died 1732.

Re: CHEW roll call
Does anyone have any information of a Thomas C. CHEW that lived in El Dorado,
Union County, AR in the 1860's and 1870's. He was married to a Lena
Chandler. She could have been his second wife.
T.C. Chew was a pharmacist and owned the pharmacy in El Dorado. It seems
that he sold part of his pharmacy to a Dr. Goodwin.
Thanks,
Pam Gregory

Any information out there on a possible (speculative) marriage of a female surnamed Chew to a male Tift (or Tefft)? She may have been of Connecticut, was living in or near near Fairfield, CT in 1855, and had a daughter named Margaret Tefft (or Tift).
