Hi Brian:
I've just been on ancestry.com looking up my family and I have found quite a few mistakes in the birthdates and the names of my grandfather's children. I e-mailed whoever put it up and made the corrections but I don't know if they will put the corrections in or not. So, I guess we can't believe everything we read. For example, they had my father's birthdate off by 21 years, and only had me listed as offspring of my mother and father...there are 4 other children. I wonder where they get the information?
Joanne
Hi Brian:
I was just talking to a cousin of mine and told her your story. She said around 1950 her mother (my father's sister) went to Boston to visit an uncle of hers. His name is Herb Cheverie and my Aunt Marjorie stayed in touch with him off and on through the years. In 1968, my cousin was in Boston on vacation and she called this Herb fellow and had a visit with him. She said he was a really old man at the time but very friendly, and they had some good chats. This Herb was a brother of my grandfather's and he had gone to Boston years and years before. Unfortunately, Jane can't remember if he had any kids or much about him. My grandfather died in 1968 and she had visited this uncle shortly after that. Granddad was 88 when he died. Maybe you could track down that guy's family. She sort of hesitated on the fellow's name (Herb) but she's pretty certain that was his name, and my grandfather had a son called Herbert too.
