Tonight my mother suddenly recalled one more tidbit she heard from her childhood about the Michael Cheverie I'm descended from and have shared my info about in past postings - supposedly he had a sister that may have owned a hotel in San Francisco that was destroyed/she was hurt/killed/some combination of those in the 1906 earthquake. I have no idea how true or reliable that story is, but it's one more thing to go on if anyone out there knows of a female whose maiden name was Cheverie that this could actually be.
Hi Brian:
Have you been in touch with Tom Cheverie from Nova Scotia. He was a major force at the Cheverie Reunion in 1993. His e-mail is: chevys(a)atcon.com
He has done a lot of research on the Cheverie/D'Etcheverry line.

Unforunately, I don't think that can be him, since I
know he was in the U.S. after 1883 when he got married
in Chicago. I've looked all around the Island
register and haven't yet run across anyone that would
fit the Michael Cheverie I'm related to. One of the
many frustrations here.

Hi Brian:
I don't know if you've been to www.islandregister.com/1890stmary's site. They have the 1890 RC census for Souris. On the second page of it, I found a Michael Oliver Cheverie who was 26 at the time, so that would make his birthdate around 1864. It lists his parents and siblings. There were a lot more people on the census than I would have thought. Hope this helps.

Maybe if we converse a little here others will see some activity and get things started....
As I said earlier, my Cheverie connection is through my gggrandfather, Michael CHEVERIE. While I'm not sure, I believe he was born on PEI. Date uncertain - several conflicting pieces of info - but was between 1850 and 1861, most probably about 1857. Unfortunately, I know nothing about his family and have been struggling to find a connection between him and other PEI Cheveries. Eventually he wound up in Chicago, where he married Elizabeth DERICHS on 29 Nov 1883. They had one child, Catherine CHEVERIE, b. 21 Oct 1885, my ggrandmother. She died young, at 36, in 1921. The Cheveries moved to Lake County, Indiana, where Michael died on 18 Sep 1936 and Elizabeth died 15 Mar 1946. I don't know if Michael had any siblings, or if his parents were ever in the U.S. On Census records, Michael says his parents were born in France. Interestingly, he says he was born in Massachusetts, but there's no birth record there for him, and family members believe he was actually born on PEI!
. They are certain he used to visit family members on PEI, but don't know what family exactly.
So, if anyone has any information or leads that would help tie Michael into the PEI Cheveries, I'd appreciate it.
