Hello Sydney,
I researched the Chevaliers of Jersey several years ago. My ancestor, Elie Chevalier,
was baptized at St. Helier 24 August 1712. In the process of finding Elie
(Elias), I gathered Chevalier data from all parishes on Jersey. Scanning
through these data, I find the following that may be of use to you.
15 Aug 1789 at St. Saviour, Jean Chevalier married Marie le Boutillier
I hope this helps,
Ed Harrison

Anyone interested in a copy of Mr. John H. Chevalier's Office of Strategic Services (OSS) personnel file, please contact me so I can conduct research to locate the record. Mr. Chevalier served in the OSS during 1943-1945.

The baptism was likely by a traveling priest, and so he happened to be in the area that day, so both babies' baptised. Perhaps the babies belonged to the same father, but mothers were a wife and a slave??

Hello Tess! It's lovely to hear from you (over here in England). I'm currently away from home, in the middle of a fortnight's holiday - showing an American third cousin around the country, in fact - and don't have complete access to my email or genealogy database. I'll get back to you next week, and I look forward to chatting and exchanging information. In the mean time, feel free to email me directly at mattperi(a)btinternet.com. My database is online on GenesReunited.co.uk. Do you know my Australian cousin Lois Merriman, who is another Chevalier descendant? She was the first cousin I made contact with, through genealogy, and I got most of my Chevalier data from her.
Best Wishes to you and your sister,
Matthew.

Hello Matthew
My name is Tess McEniery nee Chevalier
I am writing this from Australia. Julien Chevalier and Georgina Longhurst were my grandparents. My father was their son Bernard.
My sister and I were Bernards illegitimate children; we are now in our late sixties and I have been trying to piece together some information about my paternal forebears.
Naturally enough I have been in contact with and actually met my half sister Pauline which has been wonderful and she has provided me with some of the history and a few photos that she has been able to locate.
As luck would have it I have also been able to locate quite a bit of additional information however, I do not know much about Georginas sisters other than they were born in India and their mother Maria remarried after the death ? of her first husband Charles Longhurst.
I read tonight your notice posted back in 2006?!! so this is quite a long shot for me but I thought it was worth a try
