Hey everyone,
Here is some information on Theodore and Caroline's children:
1. Clifford Charles Chevalier, b. 11 Jun 1891 Toledo, OH, d. 7 Aug 1969 Milwaukee, WI. His occupations over the years were: glassworker, printer, laborer, teamster, and a driver & salesman for the Luick Dairy Company.
2. Clarence William Chevalier, b. 10 Jan 1893 Toledo, OH, d. 31 Oct 1958, Toledo, OH. He was living with his mother in the 1920. He had several occupations over the years: Glassworker, gatherer, tallyman for a lumber company, teamster, shipper for the Valve Bag Company, and a clerk for the Kelsey and Freeman Company. He was in the Mt. Vernon Sanitarium for ten years prior to his death.
3. Ethel Pearl Chevalier, b. 24 Feb 1895 Toledo, OH, d. 2 Mar 1975 in Sheridan, Michigan. She didn't have much to do with the family. She pretty much disowned the family.
4. Dr. Nelson Edward Chevalier, b. 22 Oct 1896 Toledo, OH, d. 6 Jun 1938 Toledo, OH. He as living in the Lucas County Children's home in 1910. He was living with his mother in 1920. His occupation was a doctor.
5. Gladys Caroline Chevalier, b. 5 Aug 1899 Toledo, OH, d. 21 Oct 1985 Toledo, OH. She was living in the Lucas County Children's home in 1910. In 1920, she was boarding with Andrew Dolbie. She was an accountant. She had no children.
6. Pearl Thelma Chevalier, b. 18 Mar 1901 Toledo, OH, d. 16 Nov 1908 Toledo, OH. She died of Typhoid Fever. Her brother Clifford once said that before she died, Pearl sat up and reached her arms out, as if reaching out to someone. She then laid down and died.
7. Paul Arnold Chevalier, b. 13 Mar 1905 Toledo, OH, d. 30 Dec 1950 Milwaukee, WI. In 1910, he was living in the Lucas County Children's home. He was living with his mother in 1920. His occupations over the years were: machinest, checker, clerk, and salesman for the Luick Dairy Company.
8. Wilbur Herbert Chevalier (my grandpa), b. 22 May 1907, d. 28 Apr 1967. He was living in the Lucas County Children's home in 1910 through 1920. He had run away from the Children's home and went to Wisconsin to where Clifford and Paul were.
I hope this information helps everyone. I was also curious as to what information everyone has on the family. It may make it easier in researching the Chevalier family if we knew what information everyone has and what information still needs to be researched. That way we can all work together. It is a thought. What are your thoughts?
Kristen
Kaye:
I just talked to Sandy Smith. She is Aunt Lenore's adopted/foster
daughter. I was telling her what you told me about Grandpa and she
said she remembered something about Aunt Lenore and Grandpa's sister
Alice being good friends. She said she thought Aunt Alice was killed
in a car accident at a fairly young age, early 20's, and that Aunt
Lenore may have been in the accident as well, but obviously was OK.
She also said that she believes she is from one of the Chevalier
blood lines and says she has the name of a Blacfoot Indian (Hazel
Rose - Rose is the maiden name)who married a French-Canadian and she
wondered if it might have been one of the Chevaliers. She wondered
if anyone came across that name and could help her put some pieces
together. For those of you who don't know, Lenore is my Grandma
Elsie's sister, they are the daughters of Laura, who was Capitolia's
daughter. If anyone on the mailing list can help with this puzzle,
please let me know. I'm going to try my best to get to the library
this weekend and see what info I can get about the orphans of
Theodore and also Grandpa from mine and Kaye's line. Sandy Smith
suggested that one of us (Kaye or I) contact Aunt Donna - she is
Uncle Dale Ireland's wife and apparently the last from that
generation. According to Sandy S., she knew quite a bit about the
family. Sandy S. remembers Uncle Dode coming to Uncles Dale's, but
says that's the only place she ever remembers seeing him.
Thanks for the help!!

Any info you have would be great. I'd have to look in my papers to
see how Thoedore was related to me, but I know Capitolia was my
grandma's grandma and Julia was my grandma's mom. I'm new to all the
research, so I'm just finding out things that most of you already
have discovered, but I love doing it so I don't mind. Kaye and I are
actually cousins (our fathers are brothers). I'm just interested in
anything I can find! I live in Toledo, and if the orphanage was in
Maumee, I may be able to find out more.

Kaye:
Here's an update on on me and my brothers/sisters. We don't see or
talk to Marvin (Duper), because for some reason, he and his wife
Rhonda decided not to stay in touch and won't speak to any of us. We
have seen his daughter Angie, who now has 2 boys, age 7 and 4 months,
and his son Adam. Peggy's daughter Sarah is married with a daughter
who will be 2 in May (named after my mom, Lila) and another girl on
the way due any day now. Don is in New Mexico with his family and
his daughter Dillette has a son, close to a year old. Tina's oldest,
Brad is graduating high school this year, and her twins, Aaron and
Amber are also in high school...Aaron is driving now! As for me, I
have 2 children, Raénna - 14 and Dylan - 10. Peggy and I are both
single and the other 3 are married. But Peg and I kind of like it
that way. Sometimes when I think about all the kids and grandkids
and great-grandkids my dad has it amazes me. I still remember when I
was the baby of the family and now my babies are almost grown. I know
14 and 10 doesn't seem almost grown, but I know how time flies. It
seems only yesterday that we had the family reunions and holidays
with Grandma. I don't remember a lot about Grandpa, mostly stories
I've heard and stuff from pictures, because I was only 5 when he
died, but I miss both of them terribly, and my mom as well. But our
family keeps growing and we sometimes have to remind ourselves that
we're the grownups now!! I can't wait to get into the research more
and I'm hoping I'll be able to do more than I did last time. The
roll call really got me fired up again and I can't wait to dive in
again! I live really close to Aunt Lily and Uncle Rolly and I'm
hoping that maybe he can help fill in the blanks on some things too.
My dad, being the baby of the family, doesn't remember as many people
as Uncle Rolly does. It might be a good way for me to connect with
Aunt Thelma. I don't see her very much at all. In fact I think the
last time was at Uncle Dick's funeral, which is rather sad, but such
is life. She looks so much like Grandma it's amazing! I'd like to
be able to find out the old stories and histories. I'd still like to
get to the one historic cemetary out here. I got in touch with a guy
who gave me some grave sites that I wanted to check out of someone
who might be a relative. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I
think I'll make the time to go out there. I'll let you know anything
I can uncover. Maybe Aunt Thelma, Uncle Rolly, or dad can put names
to faces in the photos? I hope so!

I didn't have much time to write the other day. But, here is a little more about me. I am the great-granddaughter of Theodore Chevalier. My grandfather was Wilbur Chevalier, the youngest child of Theodore. I have a nephew and a niece (and another nephew on the way).
I work two blocks from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and spend just about every lunch hour there. I do have some birth, marriage and death records that I have found. If anyone has something they want me to look up there, let me know.
Sandra, I looked up my notes on the arrest record on Theodore. He was arrested at 4:55 p.m. on 7 February 1895 by Mr McFarlland of the Central Station. Theodore's offense was for neglecting children. His sentence was suspended.
Theodore did marry three times. He divorced his first wife, Caroline Schaal. Their four youngest children were raised in an orphanage in Maumee. Caroline later hung herself. His second wife, Jennie Iley, died by "accidently burned by ignition of clothing from fire out of pipe while smoking". His third wife, Marguaret Lint, died from carcinoma of the tongue.
Marty, yes I would love a copy of the cd. Let me know the costs. The address is: Kristen Lorensen, 1528 W Lindsay Marie Circle, Riverton, Utah, 84065.

Hello, Donna!
It is great to hear from you. Here's hoping you do get to get back
to scratching that genealogy bug bite!
I don't remember if I told you I have a picture of Ruby and Pearl and
have always wanted to know about them. What happened to them, where
they were, did they marry, have children? Just the typical things
one wonders about an intriguing photo. For some reason, it has
haunted me over the last 25 + years I have had the photo. At first,
all I knew was that it is of "Ruby and Pearl" and that it "looks
just like them" and there is an un-identified boy in it as well. It
was signed Willie and Mame. So you can imagine how thrilled I am to
know who they are and where they fit.
Take care and please, don't be a stranger.

Marty!
Good to hear from you.
Sounds like a sweet family. I would love hearing little tidbits now
and then. I have a few wee ones in my family as well. The littler
ones are so sweet. The other day, I was putting my 2-year-old
grandson in his car seat and sait, "You are so cute!" He looked at me
in my pink dress and said, "You are so...pink!" Gotta love em! lol
I would love one of the cd's and can send you some money to help
defray the cost of scanning, archive and sending them. Just get in
touch with me. (Do you do pay-pal which would be fastest but anyway
you want will work as long as you listen to your elders and take the
help! lol) I am assuming that I am older. My older brother says I
must be older because I have more grandchildren. (He is such a snot!!!lol)
Anyway, thanks for checking in and let me know, please, how I can
help with the cd's.

Hi group,
I too would like a copy of the cd. I would gladly pay the cost. I think I
do have some of them. Aunt Lilias let me take and copy (and return) some of
the pictures. She did tell me who most of the people were. There were a
few I still do not know.
I do live here in Toledo and can get over to the library to do research. If
there are things you want from the library or the court house I would be
glad to go get them. I love doing family research.
Have a nice day!!

Hi everyone:
Marilyn in Toledo, OH checking in! I'm the grand-daughter of Elsie
(Benore) Bovia, who I believe (correct me if I'm wrong, Kathy)is the
grand-daughter of Capitolia. I'm glad everything is "fired up"
again. I forgot how rewarding it can be to learn and discover all
the information about our history. Dad said Uncle Gary's wedding was
nice...he also told us all how wonderful you look, Kathy! I would
really like to see everyone. I did meet Sandy (Belkofer) a while
back when I first started researching. I would love a copy of the CD
of pictures, Marty...my address is below, or you can email me the
pics if that's easier, either through this email or my work email
(also below). It might be nice to see if we could all try to get
together this summer...sort of a mini family reunion. I know every
one is probably very busy, but it might be nice to try to plan for
the future.
KATHY: I've heard that we have Chippewa in our bloodline and I'm not
sure if it is from Grandma's side or Grandpa's or both...any info on
that? I thought I heard that one of the grandmother's was actually
taken to a reservation in Michigan to be buried but I didn't have any
names. I'd really like to reasearch that part of our heritage,
although I know that's usually the hardest heritage to get acurrate
info on, but any thing you have that can help would be appreciated.

Howdy y'all!
Marty (Miller) here in Cincinnati - great-great-grandson of Capitolia (and
great-great-great grandson of Julia).
My wife (MaryBeth) and I, and our three kids (Lance - 4, Will - 2, and
Elizabeth - 1) are all doing great.
I have quite a few pictures from my grandmother, Lilias, who passed away a
little over a year ago. They are all scanned in, so I would be happy to
send out a CD to anyone who might be interested. I believe there are even a
few pictures of Julia, including a great one of Julia, Elsie Myers (my great
grandmother), and Lilias (I believe the picture is from around 1927). Most
of the old pictures, however are of the Belkofer side of my family
(Capitolia's daughter, Elsie Myers, married Anthony Belkofer). Please send
me an e-mail if you would like a CD of the pictures and I will try to send
one out to you when I have a chance.
Marty
Recent posting have me looking again. Check this out and tell me what you think
http://www3.sympatico.ca/sneakers/abbottlist.htm
Check the daates of July 14 1807 and Aug 6th 1811.
I was just trying to figure out what he was doing in Detroit from 1800 -- to 1812 when he fought under Audrains rifleman and the spy company. I could not find a farm llisted for him so I tried the fur traade which employed the French-Canadians. There are other Chevaliers, esp. Alexia.
Kaye, thanks for the update! I just returned from a family history trip on another family line. It was a lot of fun. I can't wait to go on a family history trip on the Chevalier family line. Yes, I would be interested in copies of the pictures of Theodore. Theodore was my great-grandfather. I know that he was once arrested or fined for child neglect. He divorced his first wife and left her with eight children. He married twice after that.

Hey, just had the idea of a roll call. If you can, please, just send
a note letting us know how you are. If you have time maybe fill us
in a little, otherwise, just let us know how you are.
Hey, I believe in prayer and can at least pray for you if you or
yours need it. Never too many prayers and well wishes.
Grins,
Kaye/Kathy
Hello, cousins, I do hope this finds all of you doing well. The list
is VERY quiet and I hope it is just the hustle and bustle of life
that is making it thus. Please let us know how everyone is..
We have been EXCEEDINGLY busy in our branch.
My father, Garold F. Bovia, son of Elsie Bernoir, remarried in
Feb. It is cool to see that romance is still alive at 80 years
old! I got to visit with my beloved uncles, Bud and Rolly and Aunt
Lilly. It was great to see them. I really miss living up near them.
So pertinent to this group. My Aunt Thelma visited me for over a
week in March. (She and Dad are the great-grandchildren of
Capitolia.) We looked through pictures and she was able to put some
names to pictures. She confirmed my supposition that "Uncle Doad"
was indeed, Theodore Chevalier. If anyone is interested in the
photos of him, I will be happy to share. I would be interested in
his story. She remembers him and said she doesn't remember anyone
ever coming to visit him.
She did not remember Julia. She does remember Capitolia selling her

year. Good time to get some history done, then.
Again, please let me know how everyone is.
Grins,
