Hi Everyone!!!
On my last post I said that I was looking for Florence Chevalier and had yet to find any information on her. The Florence Chevalier that I am looking for was Florence Chevalier or Florence(ia) Chevalier daughter of Julia and Joseph Chevalier.
After the 1880 census she seemed to just disappear. As a little girl my mom says that she remembers going to visit an "Aunt" Florence in Toledo but wonders now if it could be
Florence(ia) Chevalier or possibly an older cousin referred to as "Aunt" Florence.
Thank you to Kristen for the information on Leonard's daughter Florence and Charles' daughter Florence.
Does anyone know what happened to Florence(ia) Chevalier (daughter of Julia and Joseph)
Have a Great Day!!
Donna

Which Florence Chevalier were you looking for? Well, tracing the Rose side
of my family I found a cousin in Genoa, OH. Her great grandmother married
Florence Chevalier married Arthur Rose. So we found we were related on both
sides. He was my great great grandfather William Jackson Rose's nephew.

Hi Everyone,
In regards to the Joseph Chevalier, who served in the war of 1812, I checked with both the National Archives and Michigan State Archives. Neither one has any information on Joseph Chevalier or the Detroit Militia. I have discovered that when General Hull surrendered, the soldiers in Detroit (where Joseph was serving) were either captured or forced to sign papers saying they will not fight. However, before either one happened, Major Witherall (whom Joseph was under), let the Detroit militia, which would include Joseph, go to avoid capture.
Donna, Wilbur Chevalier was my grandfather. In 1920, he was still in the Lucas County Children's home in Maumee, Ohio. By 1925, he was up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His sister, Gladys, was boarding with an Andrew Dolbie in 1920. She then married William Kopp in 1922. She did not have any children. Let me know if you wanted more info on Wilbur or his sibblings.
Also, Donna, were you trying to find Florence Chevalier, daughter of Leonard Chevalier and Celia Rose? She was born 17 Feb 1903 in Toledo and died 1 Mar 1977 in Toledo. In 1910 she was living with her grandfather, John Rose. She married Robert Creager 20 Aug 1924 Toledo.
Thanks!
Kristen
