Sandra,
I actually found the marriage record for Julia to Louis Bernoir. They were
married in Lucas, Ohio on 24 May 1893. I also found Julia and Louis listed
in the 1910 Michigan census (Julia was 65 years old and Louis was 57 years
old). Both of them were living with William and Mary. I also found Julia
and Louis Bernoir in the 1920 Michigan census.

Kristen sent me a copy of census records a while ago. Looking at them again - in the 1880 census for Joseph and Julia, I believe it is 'basket maker' is the occupation listed for Julia. It is realy hard to read! A ;local history book for the East side talks about a lot of basket makers in the area. If her age is 35,like Kristen believes she was born in 1845. Joseph is 68 and therefore born in 1811-12. there is a 33 year age difference. This goes with what I have heard from the older relatives here.
Then I looked in the 1900 census that K. sent me and the next family after Clara Chevalier was Bernoir(Benoir) husband name near unreadable , but the wife was Julia - born 1845-!! no children. Has anyone found more with this name? I know Julia's granddaughter married a Benoir. I had heard someone married the older brother of Laurie May Benore Ireland's first husband. The ages does not seam right for the grandmother to marry the older brother in law.?? Has anything else been found out?
I will try keeping my research to Obits and Platt maps here in Toledo, and I will try to get to Monroe Mi to look up the birth records for Joseph.
Is ther anything in particular that anyone wants me to look up for them? I will be going later this week.
Sandra
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have not written lately. I have been spending every moment lately
putting together a family history class that I start teaching in a week.
Additionally, my sister is getting married and I have been putting together
her wedding scrapbook.
Sandra, I have looked through the Toledo, Ohio city directories on microfilm
for the years 1868-1933. I have written down all the Chevalier's listed for
each of those years. Regarding Joseph E Chevalier you found, he is listed in
the 1900 census as boarding with Clara Chevalier (Charle's wife). I believe
that he is a brother to John Chevalier (second husband to Clara). I am
trying to find documentation to verify that.
I did find Julia listed in a death index for Huron, Michigan. However, the
only thing the index list is the name, township and location of the death
record. The library here does not have copies of the volume where Julia's
death record is. I am in the process of requesting a copy of it. However,
it may take several weeks for it to get to me.
I will keep looking. My sister gets married in less than two weeks now.
Hopefully, I will have more time again shortly after that.
Kristen

Hello,
I did get to the library once for just an hour. Had very little luck. 1936 city directory had the following Chevalier were found:
Alvbert (Mildred) welder 827 Stubens
Alf J. (Victoria) 1976 Onterio
Edward G. slsmn Hoover Co. 1976 Onterio
Ester E. sten 1976 Onterio
Harold (Sylvia) refinery wkr. Gulf Refinery 3134 Gleason
Isaac (Catherine) pntr 6112 317th
John (Clara) 3220 Gleason
John L. (Hollie) refinery worker Gulf Refinery 222 Bay
Lucille (Mrs,) 96 1/2 Main
Margret student 6112 317th
*Noble eng Ironville Dock &Co ft of Millard
Robert refinery wkr Gulf Refinery 3126 Jessie
Theo 940 Wheeling
Walton V (Bernice) glassworker 820 Ash
I went to the Millard address in the street guide and found a Joseph Chevalier at the same address. It reads:
Millard Ave from Maumee River southward of Wood Lane ft ^ - Ironville Dock & Coal Company Chevalier, Jos E. (intersection of ) Jessie Street
The name Noble Chevalier does not appear there just Joseph E. (???)
I was very interested in the Millard ave addresses because my father in law was born on Millard ave. I plan on going back and getting all the rest of the addresses (Dear, Belkofer, Meyers, etc) and finding them on the map of Ironville. They have Platt maps starting very early.
Any City directory before 1936 is on microfilm, so I will have to talk my sister into coming and helping me. (Hard to do much with only one arm!) I think I got her hooked on Geneology too!
The Platt maps start early. I will try to look up Little Cedar Point for Chevaliers and see if I can find the Dears as well.

Kaye,
I haven't done anything lately since my mother is so sick. I also haven't
heard from anyone else either. Mom won't be with us much longer so I am
spending most of my time with her or working. Hope to get back to my
research soon when time allows. Have you heard anything from Sandra or
Kristen lately?
Cheryl
