One bit of update for you - Gerald D. Stamp, only son of Elfie Cheuvront and
Andrew Martin, was born 18 Jun 1907 in MO and died around 1960 in
Springfield, Greene County, MO (heart attack). He was only about 53 years old. He
married Lenore B. Vanderpool 10 Oct 1928 in St. Louis, MO; they separated (no
children - she moved back with her parents in IN) and he married Melba Bond 26
Nov 1932 in Macon Co., MO. I am doing this research for the son of Gerald and
Melba, who never knew anything about his grandmother Elfie.

Hello Cousins - I thought I could help a little since this family is in my
direct line, as is Melburn Cookman, where it is believed that Andrew Cheuvront
died.

Dorothy Cheuvront Sipe
Andrew Martin Cheuvront (s/o George Cheuvront and Phoebe Matilda Wolfe),
born Jan. 3, 1859 died Sept. 1888. Andrew Martin was born on the old
homestead, Sullivan Co., MO on Jan. 3, 1859. He married Oct. 29, 1884, Sullivan Co.,
MO, Elizabeth Ella Cochran, born 1862 and died 1897. They had three
children Effie, Esther and George. Andrew Martin contracted tuberculosis early in
life and went west to Garden City, Kansas, by covered wagon seeking to
improve his health. He came back to Missouri and died at the home of Melburn
Cookman his Grandmother Wolf’s old home in Sept. 1888. Esther and George died
in infancy. Effie married Earl Stamp and moved to Kansas City, Missouri,
where she died about 1918. She had one child, a son, Gerald, who is now living
somewhere in the Western part of the United States. Children:

I am doing some research for a grandson of Elfa (Elfie) Maud Cheuvront, daughter of Andrew Martin Cheuvront and Ella Cochran. Elfie was born 11 May 1885 in Sullivan Co., MO, and married Earl A. Stamp on 30 Jul 1904 in Sullivan Co.
I’ve learned that her father died when she was 3 (1888) and her mother died when she was about 12 (1897). I then found her on the 1900 census in the State Industrial Home for Girls in Chillicothe, Livingston Co., MO. I have a copy of the marriage license with Earl, then I found them on the 1910 census in Sullivan Co. with their son Gerald D. Stamp.
The grandson thinks that Earl left her because he never knew anything about his grandmother. I’m trying to locate her but don't know if she died or if he did indeed leave her. According to Earl’s 1918 WWI Draft Registration card (Nebraska), his father was his closest relative so she may have died prior to that time or he left her before that. He is on the 1920 Virginia census with his 2nd wife Lillian Ada. His 12-year old son Gerald is living with them rather than with his mother… so, did she die?
Am trying to locate Elfie after the 1910 census. Did she die before 1918? Did Earl take his son and leave her and did she remarry?
Would also like to find more information about a brother and sister noted on rootsweb – Esther and George. I think I’ve located George in 1910, working as a commissary cle
rk at the railroad in Buchanan Co., MO; and again in New Mexico with wife Mabel and their daughters Marguerite and Pauline.
Would appreciate any leads.
