DNA testing can help your genealogy, but not always. We have DNA results on my husband from 2008; but so far he has had no helpful matches with any CHESTNUT, of any spelling. Instead it has raised questions. It is a pretty common DNA pattern. My comment/question is has any GRANT, or ASHLEY especially of Meckleburg Co., N.C. seen any family connections/inter-marrying to a CHESTNUT who came from Ireland. Our Robert CHESTNUT was born in Ireland about 1830, 'ran away to sea' and settled in New Brunswick, CANADA. Charles, a son, crossed over into the U.S. and soon settled in Los Angeles County, California and had four sons. Does anyone have a connection or comment? Kay C.

Can you give me a name of a Chestnut that you are connected to so that I can check my records?
