Rhonda,
Your posting came to my e-mail just fine, so it must go to all
spellings of CHESTNUT.
Kay Chestnut
P.S. I was interested in part of your posting, but sent my comments to
a Carol Linden in B.C. Canada. Her husband is a descendant of Robert
CHESTNUT & Susan or Susanna JORDAN or JOURDAN or ---DON. of New Brunswick,
Canada, as is my husband.

I still don't know if I'm posting to that list or not.

Gravestone inscription at Toberdoney Presbyterian Church in North Antrim: "
Sacred to the memory of Robert Chesnut who departed this life January 10th,

Published 1992 in Fredericton New Brunswick (ISBN 0-9696365-0-4) has some
data on what appears to be the same Chestnut family - however the details
are not fully consistent with the Toberdoney gravestone inscription. Happy
to forward the relevant extract if it would be of interest.

Possible Lead:
On 30 April 1765, James Chesnut, Andrew Baxter, and John Laughlin witnessed
the Will of John Fulton, Yeoman, "of Lancaster Co, PA."
John Fulton's land, "Dougherty's Endeavor" is located on the east side of
the Conowingo Creek in the area that was once Drumore Township, Lancaster
Co, PA, but after the Mason-Dixon Line (1765) became part of Cecil Co, MD.
The Fulton land is just south of the present PA/MD state line.
If witness James Chesnut is the man you seek, he was at least 21 in 1765,
therefore born before 1745, and was probably living somewhere near John
Fulton. John Fulton died shortly after signing his Will.
Witness John Laughlin, Fulton's brother-in-law, moved west to Redstone
Creek, present Fayette Co, PA.
Hope this tidbit helps!
