I would very much like to collaborate with you on this family. I believe William was the brother of my ancestor, Mary Jane Chester. I am seeking a way to establish more documentation on the parents "Father" Chester & his wife, Sarah, by researching the individuals I believe to be their children: Elizabeth (Mrs. Chester Brown), John, William, Mary Jane (Mrs. William Shoemaker), Margaret A (Mrs. Henry March), & Burgett Liggett Chester.
Eight descendants have done autosomal DNA testing as we seek to establish the connections that we believe exist amongst these children. Do you have any old family records or photos?

Thanks Sue. I have already looked there but no luck. Transportation stopped in 1868 officially but hadn't really been in practice for 10 years before that, so he would have been much too young - only about 4.
Regards
Shelley

Your William Chester could have been sent out to Australia on a ship with convicts, most of the British living in Australia were convicted of some crime, the British sent them there instead of putting them into prison,
Sue
