Seeking parents/siblings of Jacob R. Chester, Mar. 3, 1819 - Aug. 28, 1890.
Buried Mineral Cemetery, Sevier County, Arkansas. Married Louisa E. Wolf. I
am not sure of birth state, Tenn. or SC. Lived in MS in 1850=1860 time frame.
Looking for background/ancesters of James CHESTER born time frame of
1760-1780, was a lawyer/Justice of the Peace in Philadelphia,PA and
Gloucester County,NJ. Was also circuit Rider for the Methodist Episcopal
Church (probably a lay minister).
Married Rebecca OAKES in Philadelphia 1 Dec 1803. I need her ancestral info
as well.
In spite of a popular notion and assumption made by my parents in their
research, this man was not a relative of the CHESTER family of Cape May,
NJ. Their James appears to have died young.
The circumstances of this James appear more and more to lead to the
conclusion that he emigrated from England.
Any and all hints appreciated
Jim Chester

Hello to all you Chesters out there,
Although I have belonged to this mail group for a few months I have not
posted anything previous to this time.
I am researching the family of Isaac Chester and Elizabeth
Whitfield, emigrants from Northumberland, England who settled in
Scarborough, Ontario, Canada around 1819. They had 10 children. One, whose
name was Utrick left that area and settled in Lambton County, Ontario,Canada
in the 1850's.
I have most of the information about his family except for Utrick himself,
who I believe died around 1863. I have found no gravesite for him, but his
wife is buried in one of their daughter's sites. There is some suggestion
that he died in Victoria, British Columbia. If anyone out there could help
me find out anything about that I would appreciate it.
Two other of his children have eluded me thus far as well. One daughter
Elizabeth who was born in Ontario around 1845. The last information I have
on her is that she was a spinster, living in Lexington, Michigan, USA in
1868. I assume she must have married between then and 1870 since she does
not show up in the Michigan 1870 census index under Chester. Any information
on her would be welcome.
James Chester, born about 1847,another son, I believe might also have ended
up in the USA since he married a Mary Ruffin, and I can find no evidence of
any Ruffins living in Ontario around that time that he might have married
her. He did move I believe to the USA because there is a family connection
with a James Whitfiled Chester, his son who lived in the USA.
I have a lot of information on the rest of the family if anyone out there
wonders if they may be connected to the Canadian clan.
Good hunting to all
Sandra

my great grandfather was Solomon Jackson CHESTER.. b 8 June 1827. He 17

He married Sarah T. MOORE , born 8-21-1866 in Gibson County their
daughter Anna Elizabeth CESTER, my grandmother was borm 15 cpt 1869 in
Trenton Gbson Co TN.
Hrnty.W. CHESTER was Solomon's father. Henry was born 1802 or 3 and he
was the second husband of Elizabeth TERREL JONES.
John L TERREL was an early resident of Gibson County TN. His home was
used as the early courthouse, or meeting house I believe and his grave
and that of several other eary settlers now lie under the US Highway.
Sure would lie to get the CHESTER line moving!
