I am looking for someone who may know about the
Chester family that lived in Monroe Ohio,Pickaway Co.,
in 1850 then in 1860 they were living in Danville
Illinois, Vermilion Co.
I am looking for information about the child Samuel
Durham who was born about 1843 in Ohio and at the age
of seven (1850 ) was living with this family in Ohio
and at the age of seventeen he was still with them in
Danville ( 1860 ). In 1868 he married Elizabeth Wright
in Danville, Ill.
All the census say Samuel was born in Ohio and that
both his parents were also born in Ohio. I am
wondering if he was orphaned at a young age and
thought of the Chesters as his parents as the census
that I have in 1870 and 1880 say his parents were born
in Ohio.
The Chester family in 1850 Ohio are;
Samuel Chester 39 farming OH.
Elizabeth 38 OH.
Hiram 16 OH.
Rebecca A 12 OH
Samuel Durham 7 OH.
Mary C???? 23 OH ( this name could be Cole or Carle)
William Wilson 1 OH.
In 1860;
Samuel Chester 49 farmer
Elizabeth 48
Samuel 5 ILL.
Samuel Durham 17 OH
Joseph Sheets 7 IND.
It would appear that this family took in other peoples
children both in Ohio and Ill. Any information or
advice as to where to look would be greatly
appreciated.
Barbara
