Leona,
If it would be FREE, sounds like a great idea. Maybe it would help some who
are like me - at a dead end before they get started.
Thanks.

Do you have any information about Mississippi Chesters circa 1850. I am
trying to locate a J. A. Chester that married Lucinda Payne in Marshall
County about that time. Thanks, Sammie Ford, granddaughter of John Robert
Chester of Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas

I am trying to connect the Chester, and the Dyer family. Grace Eve CHESTER
had two birth records, ..both Commonwealth of MASS.
The first was 1876 vol 279, pg 162, no 7269; the second was 1876, vol 279, pg
221, no 9931.
Grace's date of birth given on the first is Sept. 17, 1876. The first record
gives the place of birth as" 52 Kendall st. Boston". Childs name is Grace
Evelyn CHESTER; Father is "Charles CHESTER", residence is "Boston", his
birthplace is "unknown", his occupation is listed as "Dental student".
Grace's mothers maiden name is listed as "Mary A ------", residence "Boston",
birth[place is "Boston", occupation not given.
Grace's date of birth on the second is Oct ----1876. The place of birth is
given as "Boston", childs name is "Grace CHESTER", Father is not named, his
residence is given as "boston", birthplace is not given, occupation is not
given. Mothers maiden name is given as "M.A.-----", birthplace and occupation
are blank.
An agreement for adoption, placing Grace in the "temporary home for the
destitute" and relinquishing parental rights to the home are signed by "Mary
Addie CHESTER, mother" on march 27 1877 at no. 1 Pine Place, Boston.
A letter recommending Mr. & Mrs. William H. Dyer as fit persons to adopt a
child was signed on Nov, 17, 1877 by D. G. Thayer, M.D., Charles C Clark, and
Levi Clark, all of Plainfield MASS.
A letter transmitting the Dyers' adoption petition and the letter of
recomendation to one Luke Lyman Esq., was written on Nov, 20, 1877, by John
Ayres, 103 State St, Boston (he being apparently a representative of the
Home).
The Dyers' Petition for Adoption and change of name shows the filing date as
Nov, 22, 1877.
Grace was kept by her mother for 6 months after birth. Grace was in the Home
for about 6 months. A search of census records shows that there were CHESTERS
and DYERS in the same area of Boston, and in the Plainfield area. The two
birth records exist because of an error on the clerks part in not removing
the first when the "modification" was made.
Questions: Was Mary Addie ---- really a CHESTER, was she married to Charles
CHESTER, or is the whole CHESTER thing fiction? Did the Dyers and CHESTERS
know each other? Was 52 Kendall st a "poor" area then? Could it be that Mary
Addie ----- was a servant in the CHESTER home?
Grace Evelyn CHESTER Dyer was my grandmother.
Please post these CHESTERs and I will check my files. I have a Dr Charles
CHESTER, but I dont know what kind of dr. he is, and I will be looking. Leona
There were some Mass CHESTERs that moved first to AL then To AR and from
there dispersed to OK and TX. Leona
Leona; One of these Boston Chesters was a "dental student". Edp
