Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Leona,
How do you go about doing that? I may not be around for the 1940! Thanks.

Notice the most changes came in 1940. Note the new changes for 2000. That
ought to help locate grandparents!!

There used to be a town called CHESTERVILLE in TX. It was faunded by Nelson
Chester, and his wife. They brought two children, Will and Anna, and his
aunt, Alvina Chester. It was in existance from 1895 until 1920. I have a copy
of the history if anyone is interested. This CHESTER family came fromOlney,
Il and returned there in 1920. Leona

Leona,
You're going to find that with the list too. I don't know how many people
subscribed looking for Chester this or that and I just wrote and told them
this was the Chester Surname List! Couldn't understand that myself but
maybe since you two are having that problem, it's understandable!

Leona,
All I can give you is sympathy. I have been sooo frustrated by the
Chester name being mistaken for the name of a city or county.
The only thing that helps is to include the given name but some of the
search engines don't allow that. I often don't have a given name and am
just trying to go fishing with the Chester surname. If anyone has any help
for us, Leona and I would be so grateful.

Has anyone figured out how to use a genealogy search engine, put in CHESTER
and have it recognized as a surname and not a given name, count or city? Leona
Hi Leona,
I have/had a half-brother named Thomas. I will have to find out what
the middle name is. He was born between 1900 and 1910 in Louisiana.
Louise
Hi, my name is Leona Guthrie and Pat asked me to take over being the list
mom. I do not hope to do as well as she did but I will try and I do want you
to know I will help whenever I can.
Here is a good link that is newly improved for land records. <A

Anyone know about Thomas J CHESTER of LA? Leona
Hi Guys!
I am going to turn the Chester List over to Leona Guthrie who is also on our
list and she will be in charge now. I am having some health problems with
my elderly Mom and don't have any extra time right now. Thanks for being
such a good crowd and I'm still on the list.
