Hi,
Trisha Hanna asked me today if we could post links to individual websites
and I hadn't even thought about it but we can. If any of you have Chester
Websites, please give us your addresses so we can see what you have.
Thanks.
Pat McAlpine
P.S. Trisha Hanna has some beautiful old Chester photographs. I envy her
for having all of them since I don't have any of my Chester ancestors except
my Grandmother, Mary Alma Chester Glenn.
Would you like to have a complimentary copy of the Tennessee Blue Book? Go
to http://www.state.tn.us/sos/bluebook/bborder.html and fill in the order
form. . If you click on the TN Blue Book Page under the order form, it will
tell you what's in the book so you'll know if you're interested in it or
not. In the first line where it asks about a school or business, if you
use the spacebar in there - one time - it will take your request. This is a
special millennium hardback edition. >

My family home page is listed at www.familytreemaker.com type in my name
TRISHA HANNA and it will give you the home page for the Chester photos I
posted today. enjoy!
I'm trying to locate the birth details of Richard PINCHES.
What I do know is he was born 18th September 1815 in Chester. In the
1850's he was a Master Mariner based I think in London.
Looking for any connections/clue/or links to this man.
Hoping someone can help.?
Regards
Cris
NEW ZEALAND
Hi,
I think I ned to clarify myself. The DC Homecoming is for anyone who has
now or ever had ancestors of any surname in that middle TN area, not just
our Chester's. These just happen to be my ancestors. Thanks.

Hi,
This is from one of my TN lists and they started a genealogist's reunion
for people from that area last year and it was so successful, it's become
annual. If any of you have ancestors from Henry, Dickson, Humprey, Stewart,
Montgomery, Christian Co, KY and etc., you might be interested in attending.
My Chester's came from NC but migrated to Montgomery Co. & Stewart Co, TN
and know I know at least some of you have roots in that area. They said
they had a ball and found a lot of new cousins and info. Thanks.

> FINDING A LOST CEMETERY
>
A comment many people make in regard to locating cemeteries is, "I know the
cemetery is out there somewhere in the general vicinity, but I can't find
it." When looking for old, abandoned cemeteries that are no longer on a
map, one of the best ways to recognize them is to look for trees on a slight
rise or hill, or a stand of trees that looks out of place in the middle of a
field. People often planted fir trees around the perimeters, or at the
entrance, of cemeteries. Roads often changed direction (especially if the
cemetery was a "typhoid" or epidemic cemetery), and farmers tended to plow
around the cemeteries, making them difficult to get to. The trees, however,
out in the middle of nowhere, usually give them away!

There was also a Eldon M. Chester living in Beaumont, Texas that enlisted as
a cook and got as far as Florida before end of conflict.

Anyone looking for marriages between 1902 and 1907 in what would become
Sequoyah county Okla. needs to contact the Craig County Gen. Soc at Vinita,
OK. Vinita was the seat of the Northern Federal Judical District during
that time and ALL marriages in the Cherokee Nation were recorded there, no
matter where they took place.

I have also discovered a tribute to Wm Chester and his wife from his
descendants mentioning the Black Hawk Capture. It is in the archives at the
LDS Genealogy Library. I will try and get a copy of it and send it along.
The graves are located in Soldier Creek Cemetery which Trisha sited in her
last posting. My most urgent goal is to establish Wm. Chester's parentage.
I appreciated the Chief Black Hawk article and am going to share it with my
class.
Best Regards,
Kathryn Engemann
Hi Leona,
I don't know where the cemetery is located but I guess Kathryn does and
maybe she can tell you. Also, maybe she can tell you whatever else you
needed to know. Can you Kathryn?
