Hello to all Chester searchers!
I'm Kathie Crockett and my father's mother was Mable Thelma Chester. Her
father was John Robert Chester and her mother was Katie Ford. We've gathered
quite a lot about J.R. Chester and his wives and children, but Katie was his
first wife and had only the one child and seems to have dropped in and
dropped out with no records except their marriage in Webster parish, La., on
Sept. 30, 1893. I don't know if they divorced or if she died, and I can't
find anything about her parents. So, if any of you run across something
about this first wife, I'd love to hear about it! Unfortunately for me,
Mable married a Smith, which is a genealogist's nightmare! Luckily, several
generations of the Smith's were buried in one cemetery, so that has helped
some, but naturally there is a lot more information out there I'd really
like to find.
I live near New Orleans, grew up in N. Louisiana, and have lived in Utah,
Colorado, West Texas, and Indonesia with my husband of almost 29 years who
works for Chevron Oil Co. We have two children: Adam, 19 and a sophomore at
La. Tech U., and Rachel, 14. I'd love to hear from any Chester relatives,
especially if you know anything about Katie Ford.
Hope you all have a happy Christmas and we all have major breakthrough's in
the year 2000!

Hi,
Kathy just let me know that John Henry's oldest son Elbert was married to a
Zula Unknown. Maybe that will help someone place them. Thanks.

background that you requested months ago! Thanks for reminding us to keep

O.K. Guys,
I know we're all busy right now, scurrying around trying to get everything
ready for Christmas but we're getting new subscribers all the time and we
need to have a roll call. Let the new ones on the list know who we are and
which Chester ancestor we're looking for. Might get lucky and find a
cousin. Happy Hunting!!

Somewhere, some one has a brother to their Chesater that just dropped off
the face of the Texas Earth..........and I have him. He was J.O.Chester who
married a pretty widow named Katie Leona BAMFORD AUSTIN, maybe in AR or TX .
He was born in 1874 and maybe in LA. He may have served in the Spanish
American war. He died in 1959 in Hobbs, NM Leona
