I am from Birmingham, AL. My grandmother was Mary Ruth Chesser-Stewart. I found a book entitled "Okefinokee Album" by Francis Harper and Delma E. Presley in some of my grandmother's belongings. There is an inscription on the inside written by her sister-in-law (Bernice) hoping she "enjoys reading about the Chessers." To date, I haven't gotten to this line of my family yet, but this has piqued my interest. I do not know if there is a connection or not. My great grandfather was Lloyd W. Chesser. Have you found him in any of your research? He owned a restaurant named "Lloyd's" in Shelby County, Alabama. Quite a well-known establishment. The restaurant is still open, but it was sold years ago. They still use the name though. I believe my grandmother had four brothers; Buford, W.H. - and I don't remember the other two off the top of my head. I certainly look forward to hearing from you!

You are the 1st break I have had in my Chesher search. William and Vada Chesher were my great-grandparents. Their son Dan was my grandfather..........His son John F. Chesher is my father. I have been looking for records on my grandmother Mattie (I think they lived in Tenn.)
I found William and Vada in the 1930 census w/ their then 8 children.
I know very little of my family because I was adopted. Any information I would sooo appreciate.
Thanks, Angie
