I received this from Mike Cobb and he gave me permission to quote it here:
"One Sarah Jane Cobb married an unknown Mr. Chesser about 1889, probably in either Hunt or Fannin County. They had one "known" child, a son Claude in 1890, before Mr. Chesser died.
Sarah Jane Cobb Chesser married a second time, to Henry Thomas Tucker in 1893 in Hunt County. From then until 1930, that family totally vanished off the face of the earth, although one of Henry's sons by his first marriage was living in Love Co, OK in 1920.
Claude Chesser disappeared too. I am of the opinion that he must have been raised by Chesser relatives, as there is no mention of him among the Cobb-Tucker descendants. While a good many of the Fannin County Chessers moved up into Oklahoma, Claude apparently thought better of it. His life is a large blank until his death in Kleberg Co, TX in 1977."
I had contacted Mike to see if he could shed any light on my grandmother's
marriage to an unknown Cobb some time before 1941. She was born Viola
Chesser, her first marriage was to Varney Williams, my grandfather.
I've been told that she was married four times in all. One to a porter who was an oilman. I found a marriage record somewhere to a Payton that could have been hers.
Would love to hear from anyone who can shed any light on Claude Chesser or my Viola Chesser Williams Porter ? Cobb.
