I have two William Chesnutts. One was the son of Hugh Chesnutt and Mary
Shelton and was born 1818 in Hawkins county, Tennessee and married Malinda Wood.
The other is William Chesnutt son of James Chesnutt and Ann Reynolds. I do not
have documented evidence on either of these men.

My William Henry Chesnutt appeared in Tuscaloosa County Alabama on land purchase records in 1848. On 1860 Tusc County Census with wife (Mary E TN?) stepdaughter Amanda 21, and several other children. I am stuck in Alabama and need any information anyone might have that could help me determine where he came from and where his wife was from. Any information would be welcomed.
