Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I'd appreciate receiving a copy of the flyer.

There is a considerable amount of Chestnut info on the net and Norman Parkes
has
spearheaded a lot of it. It appears the family is heavily concentrated in
Co. Antrim
and a lot of my Kennedy kin there married into it. The
Billy-Dervock-Derrykeighan &
Bushmills area seem replete with many, and differences in spelling abound. I
asked
some of the locals in the Bushmills area about the name, spelling, and none
of them
had a clue or was even remotely interested. They were not Catholic, I did
find this
out. It is my wife's line. The McDill family book is long out of print but
I will send
you anything you want. Good luck on your publication. Erik P

Hi Kathy,
Please forgive the long delay in my responding to your email. I'm just now
catching up on things as I've been so busy with work and this Chesnutt
project. Additionally, it has only been recently that the index has been
completed. Since the database is not in a standard genealogy program,
getting the hardcopy index was critical to answering your question.
Our book does show James Chesnutt b. 1784 m. Elizabeth Stevenson and
Margaret Chesnutt b. 1787 m. Robert Stevenson.; however, I do not have
descendants of either line. While this book is ready to be sent to the
printers, I would love to be able to get the information on their
descendants for inclusion in a future supplement to the book. Would you be
interested in helping provide that information?
Again, please excuse the long delay in responding to your inquiry.
Thanks
Ray

Hi Erik,
Please accept my apology for not responding sooner. No, I am not familiar
with the McDill genealogy. How would I get a copy? Our book traces back to
Alexander Chesnutt of IOW, VA, who died 1690. We have not been able to
trace any of our Chesnutt line back to Ireland.
Thanks again for your note.

Dear Ray, Thank you so much for the e-mail about your new book on the
Chesnutt line. I too would like to have one of your books. I have been
searching for the Chestnut family of Absolom and his wife Rebecca for 30
years, and have found only census records in Mississippi. Believe they
migrated to Oklahoma and from there, my great grandfather Henton Chestnut is
found in Utah. Died in Colorado at a Silver mine. I have spent hundreds of
hours and $$$$$$ in searching going back from Utah. Nothing ever turns up.
Glad to get your message. Thank you.

Hello Kay - I may have sent these two items concerning the Chestnut families
of Ireland to you previously:
1. The families of South-West Donegal. From the records of Kilcar Parish
Church.
Baptism of children of JOHN and JANE Chestnut of Derrylaghan.
ROBERT, 27 October 1830. (Name is underscored with X following)
WILLIAM, 5 August 1832.
SARAH ANNE, 21 November 1834.
ALICE, 16 November 1837 (birth date)
ELIZABETH FRANCESS, 26 March 1840 (birth date)
JOHN JAMES, 11 August 1843
THOMAS, 11 July 1845
ALICE, 14 March 1848
HUGH, 23 November 1851
2. Gravestone inscription at Toberdoney Presbyterian Church in North Antrim.
Sacred to the memory of Robert Chesnut who departed this life January 10th
1846(16?) in the 87th(81st?) year of his age. "Blessed are the dead who die
in the Lord. Amen saith the Spirit for they rest from their labours and
their work do follow them". This stone was erected by his son Robert Chesnut
Esq of Frederickton New Brunswick, British North America as a mark of filial
respect to the memory of his affectionate parent. Peace to his (soul?)
"The Old Burying Ground, Fredericton, N.B. Vol III" by Isabel Louise Hill.
Published 1992 in Fredericton New Brunswick (ISBN 0-9696365-0-4) has some
data on what appears to be the same Chestnut family - however the details
are not fully consistent with the Toberdoney gravestone inscription. Happy
to forward the relevant extract if it would be of interest.
Best regards - Norman
