My mother is no longer able to use the sewing machine and has decided to
donate it to the small museum at Charlotte Street in Ballymoney in County
Antrim.

Singer Model 15 Treadle Sewing Machine
Donated by Mrs Annie Elizabeth Parkes of Portrush
The machine was the property of Mary Jane Chestnut, later McQueston, of
Balnamore. It was left in Portrush with Eliza Anne Mann, Mary Jane's sister,
when she emigrated to Boston, MA in the late 1910s.
The serial number indicates that it was made in 1898 (possibly in the
Scottish factory at Clydebank). The coffin style cover with the cross-hatch
pattern is typical of older machines. The Memphis sphinx decoration was
popular for upwards of 40 years.
