Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
To: Everyone in my Computer Address Book
It has been called to my attention that some of you are receiving messages from me that I've not sent. There must be a virus somewhere. Some of you have gotten all sorts of info from my Word files. Please, please, please delete everthing and don't attempt to "open" any attachments.
I don't believe any harm has been done, but I'm sure you're disgusted with getting info that you don't know anything about. There was one poem...or a few lines from it...that was okay, but it was a Christmas one so that didn't make much sense.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. And, I certainly hope that no one's computer has been seriously "infected."
Eleanor
At last I have a better reading of the inscription on the West face of the
gravestone at Derrykeighan cemetery:
HEARE LYETH Ye BODY
OF SaMUAL CHASNUT
WHO DEPARTED THIS
LIFE DECr 7TH 1734
AS NS?????????????
HIS ????????????????
So that given by Camac in his book on Derrykeighan is correct.
The East face probably has an inscription also - but it is low on the stone
and much more weathered than that on the West face.

The University of Louisiana web page at www.ucs.louisiana.edu/bnl/Main.html
has a database which may be searched of the Belfast Newsletter for
1737-1800. (Many thanks to my colleague Derek Torrens for the link.) A quick
CHESNUT query returned about 13 hits which are summarised below. The codes
are: + is a place name, = is a person's name, $ is a ship's name and ! is a
required space. The database has keywords which are also given and may
indicate the subject of the article in the newspaper. The original
newspapers have not yet been consulted.

THAT E-MAIL IS A "SCAM" SOME ONE TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF ROOTS-WEB "CHESNUT"
I'VE GOT 3 OF THEM TODAY. I DO NOT KNOW IF ROOTS-WEB KNOWS THIS IS GOING ON.
BILL CHESNUT
Hello Don and all - greetings from China
My guesses are:
1. Email sent to incorrect address
2. Email generated by a virus which picked up, at random, some text in the subjects PC. I add that Rootsweb re-mailers will strip off any attachments to leave only virus-free emails.
I take the opportunity to remind the list that my Chesnut (various spellings) interests are in the North Antrim area of Ireland. Favoured personal names being William, John and Jane. Web pages at http://www.parkesfamily.btinternet.co.uk/
