County Antrim is available.
There are now separate pages of records from the Parishes of

I have pasted a copy of the will of Samuel Chesnut of Carnaff townland,
Derrykeighan Parish in County Antrim, Ireland. The will was made in 1777
and proved in 1783, presumably shortly after Samuel's death. Anyone familiar
with the speech of
the area will recognise some of the 'incorrect' spelling!
Best regards - Norman

Hello Eleanor, Alice, Allene, Erik, Dan, Anne
Hello all - I will send the text to the Chesnut-L email list when I have a
copy of the document. From memory (not always to be trusted!), the
associated names in the will are McKinney, Nevin and I think a Benjamin
Chestnut of Kilmoyle and a William Chestnut (grandson) also. But please
wait before rushing into print on that.
As to Dan's question - the Samuel here seems to be the one whose will of
1783 is indexed in Irish wills but was lost in the fire of 1922. The only?
source of the Derrykeighan gravestone inscription "Samuel Chestnut ... 1734"
seems to be Camac's book about the history of Derrykeighan Parish. The stone
is now badly decayed but could have been readable 100 years ago when Camac
did his survey.
It is nice to meet you Alice and Allene - greetings from Ireland! There is a
section devoted to the Chestnut families of North Antrim on my web pages at
http://www.parkesfamily.btinternet.co.uk/ I have now enough additional
material on the Donegal Chesnutt families, along with this will, to warrant
an update before I head off to China on 3 January.
Regards to all - Norman
The will (copy made 14 August 1777) of Samuel Chestnut of Carnaff townland,
Parish of Derrykeighan, County Antrim, Ireland has been found amongst the
papers of Thomas Taggart & Sons, Solicitors of Ballymoney. The reference
number at the Public Record Office in Belfast is D/2868/B/1 and I have
ordered a photocopy.
There are details of his children and of his grandson and I will type the
text and send to the list shortly after Christmas.
Season's greetings to all - Norman
Norman,
I am on the Chestnut list, and they are in my family tree, so I will be
looking forward to your e-mail to the list after Christmas (or after the 1st
of the year).
Most kind of you to share!
Allene Petree
I am really excited about the Derrykeighan and Carnaff data. Have tromped
through
the Derrykeighan graveyard, has been used hundreds of years, but only a couple
of hundred markers...no Chesnuts...some Kennedy and Dinsmore...including my
g-g-grandparents John Kennedy & Nancy Dinsmore...their son Robert wed a
Chestnut girl and they lived in Bushmills.
The Kennedys lived for a while in the townland of Carnaff before moving on to
Belfast.
Anxious....Happy Holidays, Erik P Conard--Denver
Norman: I am searching for the chesnut girls who married into the Godsey
family in Virginia, the carolinas and Kentucky in the 1700s. I am a direct
descendant. Please put me on the list to receive Chesnut information. Alice
Godsey Harris, alyharis

Norman,
Is this Samuel Chesnut of which you write below related to, the Samuel which
died on his farm in 1732?
Regards,
Danny,
