[CHESNUT] Chesnut/Weaver Genealogy
by Daniel L. & Carolyn Sue Chesnut, Sr.
Dear Weaver Family,
I have attached a copy of a descendant file I extracted from my huge family
file.
This file was created on you most distant Chesnut grandmother that I have
record of which was married to a Chesnut. I then followed the file back one
generation to where I know it connected to a well-documented Chesnut ancestor.
The two files I am sending you are "Anne_F_Chesnut.FBC", and
"Anne_F_Chesnut.FBK" named files. They are in compressed format and back-up
format, so when you click on Alt F in your family tree program, be sure to
click to select a .FBC or .FBK file in the location on your hard drive when
your Email program downloads attached Email files.
I hope that this will provide you with the connecting information too a
greater body of research through the related individuals.
I am also sending you an ancestor tree of you weaver family which will
document the past generations, deleting the side branches which will give
you a clue as to what research we are looking to document related to those
past ancestors and related individuals.
We are in need of research in the early Pennsylvania, and Virginia
Colonies. The Pennsylvania Colony around Johnstown (?), and all over the
valley of Pennsylvania, extending down to Virginia. Spelling of these early
names have been misread (through poor preservation of records, and poor
copies), and just plain misspelled though illiteracy of Chesnut descendant
(using poor phonetics, sounding out spelling of word, Etc.) in early
records. These poor copies, and their poor readability, have lead to poor
cataloging of history regarding the family.
Through this poor cataloging, or lack there of (due to discarding
information, improper spelling, Etc.) also contributes to incomplete records.
Our family has a deep history of Protestant association, appearing post
time period of Patrick Sarsfield, beginning with a time period of William
Sarsfield and Mary Fitzroy Stuart (circa 1658).
You and our other Family researchers may find important records in the
church records such as the Church of England (Irish Associated Families,
1658-1740), any church with a Presbyterian form of government, with related
records such as death, orphans courts, duty and tax records, bonded servant
records, ships manifest, wills including wills of associated landowners who
may have a Chesnut as a adjoining property, witness of will, executor of
will, guardian of orphan, Etc.
These important records will be found in the records of individuals living
in and emigrating from Ireland, on ships leaving, or having individuals
leaving Ireland prior to 1740. These ships and individuals arrived in
Pennsylvania and possibly Virginia prior to 1762. They lived initially in
the valley of Pennsylvania and what is eastern Virginia, moving down the
valley of Pennsylvania and possibly the Shenandoah region settling in what
is now West Virginia, with one group settling in what is now Virginia and
West Virginia ins what is now Augusta County Virginia and Isle of Wight
Virginia.
One group moved into what is now West Virginia settled in and around
Augusta County (formed 1738) [formerly (Orange Co. formed 1734), and
(Spotsylvania pre 1734, formed ca. 1720, county seat Orange] and Isle of
Wight County [original Shire, county seat Isle of Wight].
Hope these clues and related files help.
Thank you for your interest and important research into the family.
Respectfully, Your Oklahoma Cousin,
Daniel Lawrence Chesnut, Sr. (Danny)

Hi Cousin Daniel--You have a great web page with lots of good info. I was
excited to find another link to our tree. Your tree links with our tree
through Anne Chestnut. She married Peter Alexander Weaver in 1819. That
is our 2nd cousin, removed 5 times.
I would love to share info. Is it possible to get a GED file of your side
of the family? I'm willing to share too. I've attached a brief descendent
tree Peter. Have other info too. I look forward to hearing from you.
Descendants of Peter Alexander Weaver
