I am looking for the Parents of Lou Isann Chesney Easler. She was born
on 7/17/1854 and died on 6/14/1939. She is buried on Cherokee Springs
Baptist Cemetery in Spartanburg Co SC. Does anyone have any of this
info on her. Thanks
Dan
I am searching for information about my great-grandmother, Melissa Evaline
CHESNEY, born about 1857.
I first find her listed with her mother, Nancy Chesney (born ca.1829) in the
1860 Knox Co., TN Census.
Her siblings were Mary, Marcus, Andrew, and Sarah.
Melissa Evaline CHESNEY married Bracken Pierce COMPTON in 1881 in Knox
Co.TN. They had five
children -- Mary, Charles James, Herbert, Rachael, and William (my
grandfather).
I am also interested in finding out more about Melissa Evaline's sister,
Belle CHESNEY, who was a legal
guardian for Pearce Compton in 1929 in Knox Co.,TN.
Any further information about this family would be greatly appreciated!
Diane
My great grandfather was Robert Lee Chesney who was born in Union County,
Tennessee. His father was John Wesley Thornburg Chesney also of Union
County. JWT's father was John Chesney who was married 3 times. JWT's mother
was Ruthie Lane. John Chesney was from Spartanburg, SC. His father (I
believe also named John) was unable to make the trip to Tennessee with his
wife and son, so it was left to the younger son to settle the land grant they
had in Union County, Tennessee.
My three-year old son, William Cody Tallent, keeps me very busy, so I've not
been able to check this list that often.
Ann Chappell Tallent
The name means "happy" (more specificallly, happy because one is lucky).
There is a similar word in Polish -- szszesny -- which also is a family
name. Interestingly, many "Szszesny"s became "Chesney"s in America as well.
I think we have names that are "sound alikes" by coincidence.

I am looking for Julius and Mary "Chesney" who were family to my mother's
half-sister Bertha Pikorney. They had 3 children Bertha, Theodore and Marie
"Chesney" who grew up in the 1910-20 era. They are buried in metropolitan
cemetary in Middle village, NY< NY. Looking for information Bertha
Pikkorney's mother, Maria Anna Vencel who married Peter William Schwabe after
Pikorney and had children Peter, Marie, August, William and Francis.
The Vencel's were from Bohemia as is assumed the Pikorney folks so this is
probably the continental "Stastny" line
I'm researching "continental cousins" - people named Chesney who descend
from the Czech (Bohemian) family "Stastny". (The word "Stastny" in Czech
language is pronounced like "Chesney" but with a soft 's' instead of a 'z'
sound in the middle.)

There are LOTS of people on the list, but I guess because it has been so
quiet lately, that they are not checking their mail from us.

I am a MC-CHESNEY (McChesney) and I'm here to follow where the Chesneys
came from, in Ireland. So far, we've been able to isolate the McChesney
folks to the Ards Peninsula area, across Strangford Lough from Belfast.
I haven't actually located my forbears there; they came over from
Ireland in the late 1830s and settled in Pittsburgh (Allegheny City)
area. Any information on McChesneys GREATLY appreciated!

We've recently had a few people join the list, so I thought, as list
moderator, I'd call for a roll call, since the list hasn't been too
active lately.
Let us know who you are
Which Chesney line you are researching
Any new finds you've had recently
Any brick walls you've hit
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Linda
