Hi-
I am a great great great granddaugther of John Chesney born in Dec. 1794 who
settled in what is now Union County, Tennessee on Bull Run Creek. I am
descended through his son, John Wesley Thornburg Chesney, whose mother was
Ruthy Lane. J.W.T. Chesney was born January 13, 1858 in Union County,
Tennessee. He died May 20, 1938 and is buried in Lynnhurst Cemetery in
Knoxville, Tennessee. His wife was Anna Eleanora Needham (b. Jan. 6, 1860; d.
April 18, 1928). She is also buried in Lynnhurst Cemetery.
My name is Cecilia Ann Chappell Tallent. My husband, David, and I have a
wonderful baby boy, Cody, who is less than one year old.
I am very interested in hearing from any cousins that know the names of JWT's
siblings. I only know about Tillman, Gordon, Levi, and Rhoda. You may email
me directly at Atall87095(a)aol.com. Thank you.
Ann
Hi,
I am posting my Chesney's at the end of this note. My information comes
from Alexander Chesney's Journal by way of the Union County (SC) Heritage
Book. The Chesney's may not
be mine, nor the Fulton's, or the Cook's. Everything, except for one
source, indicates that
this is my Charles Brandon. I have one source which lists the wife of
Charles Brandon as Nancy Magruder, and a child named Nancy who married John
King. This is my direct line. However, according to Chesney's Journal
Charles Brandon was married to Sarah Cook. I can't find any of the children
of Charles and Sarah, but they were living near the Chesney's on the Pacolet
River during the American Revolution. My Charles Brandon also claimed to be
living on the Pacolet River at the same time.
The reason that I am posting to the Chesney list is to find out if
anyone have more information on these families than can be found in
Chesney's Journal. I would particularily like dates of the Chesney family
during this time. Also any dates on the Fulton's would be helpful.
By the way, I receive the Chesney Clan Newsletter, so I have that
information.
TIA,
Arline

Hi,
I thought I'd start with myself.
I'm your friendly neighborhood list owner -- Linda Morgan Clark. I'm a
United Methodist clergywoman, woman's rights activist, gardner, computer
fanatic and lots of other things -- in no particular order! <G>
I have a website that combines some of my interests in the United
Methodist Church, computers, and genealogy/history in Kansas at:
http://history.cc.ukans.edu/heritage/um/um.html
I guess that's kind of an indication that my roots are in Kansas, with
many of my closest Chesney kin still living there.
In brief my Chesney branch is as follows:
1 William Chesney
..+Mary McCauley
.2 Thomas McAuley Chesney b: 8 May 1784 in Harford County, MD d: Abt.
1832 in Brownsville, In

**********
I recently received information that the father of the above William
Chesney may be:
William Chesney b: Abt. 1710 in Baltimore, Maryland
and that my #1 William Chesney is a " Jr." b: August 27, 1756 in Cecil
County, MD -
d: May 29, 1840, m: Mary McAuley b: Abt. 1758 in Cecil County, MD d:
January

I've not yet had the chance to verify this.

Sorry to be so tardy in getting something out to all of you. I've not
had access to the internet for a couple of weeks, so had not had a chance
until this morning to check with the RootsWeb server to see how many of
you had subscribed. But I'm pleased with the number so far, and hope
there will be more as we get the word out.
Now, for the more interesting stuff.
How about everyone introducing themselves -- Tell us who you are and
anything else you'd like for us to know about you. If you're a Chesney
researcher or genealogy buff, be sure to let us know what branch of the
clan you're working on. (I know who some of you are already, but
introduce yourself to the others)
Hope to hear from all of you soon
Linda

>Got this a little mess up, the message came back to me when I sent it,
>s>I'll jut forward it to you.
Actually it came through just fine on the list. Let me know if you have
more trouble with the list bouncing any of your messages.
And thanks for posting this. I'll print it out and put it in my files.
It helps a lot in tracing down William. Sometime this year I'm hoping to
go to Baltimore and do some research. I'd really like to find William's
parents.
Are you able to make copies of this history? If so, I'd sure like a copy
of it. Or can you tell me where I can get a copy.
Linda

Hi! I am Tissie Chesney Schwebel. Hope to be the first to post to our
new list. Thank you Linda and Terri!
John Chesney is my ancestor. He came to Texas in the early 1800's. He
married Elizabeth Castleman on May 14, 1830. I think John ties in with
the Crownovers and Rabbs. See you later. Tissie
