Dorothy Rebuck Chesley, 95, of Findley Lake, N.Y., currently residing at Independence Court in Erie, Pa. passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday, February 15, 2013. Dorothy was born on July 24, 1917 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Sheldon and Elizabeth Jones. Dorothy moved to Findley Lake, N.Y. in 1947 with her husband Frederick "Bud" Rebuck (1916-1950) and her two children Kathy and Sue. She then married Roy Chesley of Findley Lake in 1975 and remained in Findley Lake. Dorothy managed Montgomery Ward, worked for Swanson Erie, was an accountant for Winter Company and was an original employee for Peek N Peak when the ski resort opened. At the time she worked for the Peak she didn't ski however at age 55 she took up the sport and loved it very much but loved the picnics at the Lodge with her family even more. She was an active member of the Findley Lake community hosting card club, attending services at the Findley Lake United Methodist Church and past member of!
the Eastern Star of Sherman, N.Y. Dorothy loved spending her free time antiquing where she could be found at Bell Valley or Perry Highway and Edinboro Antique Mall on any given weekend buying and selling collectibles. Even in recent years she enjoyed a healthy business of selling at the Findley Lake community yard sales. Dorothy was also a member of the Circle of Friends Relay For Life American Cancer Society team for 17 years. She also enjoyed painting and making crafts. But one of the things she looked forward to most was family vacations. She is survived by Kathy and Jorn Hansen of Erie, Pa. and Susan and David Jones of Findley Lake, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Kevin Jones of Findley Lake, N.Y., Brian Jones of Erie, Pa., Gretchen Hansen of Willoughby, Ohio, and Kirsten Hansen of Mentor, Ohio; three great grandchildren Brianna and Justin Jones and Corey Jones. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the Spitzer Funeral Home, 135 Miller St., Sherman, N.Y. Robin Cuneo will officiate the service. Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 19 in the funeral home. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 W 38th St, Erie, PA, 16508, Relay For Life team Circle of Friends.
