Hi Barbara, I come to the Chesley family via James Colby and Abigail Chesley. My G Grandfather was Carl Peck Cleveland, son of Sarah Adell Peck and Howard Wilder Cleveland, Parents of Sarah Adell Peck were Elijah Peck, Jr. and Adeline M. Colby, then onto James Colby and Abigail Chesley. THEN, back to G Grandfather Carl Peck Cleveland married Margaret "Maggie" D. Marr. It is thru G Grandfather and G Grandmother Cleveland that I join the John Erskine Marr and Catherine Surplus family of Kittery, Maine. And, I know you don't recognize "me" but my email address is Meejain(a)aol.com.

Barbara,
I had not worked on this I was trying to fit them into another James but knew the children names were wrong. I have copy of the records which I could e-mail you they are PDF format. I did get out the Durham records and the best Hill I can find would be Eliphalet from Rochester this lists a Elizabeth who was bapt. in Dover 1 Jan 1742.
Yes I would like to be part of the Chesley board.
Barbara

The James Chesley you have found is James from Barrington, NH who married Elizabeth Hill.Dates are right , for REV. War records and are signed by son Asa who I come down through, and who I have just send papers to DC for DAR.
Have you found anything on the parents of Elizabeth Hill? I can not place her with Valentine of Durham or John of Kittery, Maine.
Would you like to join out Chesley homepage? We have a Picture of James from Rochester, and a lot more of our ancester's of Philip of Durham. Also his records are posted there with other lines on DAR. Some of our names are George W. Chesley m Miss Elliot, lived in the Freedon area,Alvin, Thomas, Benjamin, many others

I found the Revolutionary war records for a James Chesley who was married to Elizabeth with the same dates but died in 6 Feb 1836. I am wondering if this is the same person. He was living in Rochester
