john merle chesley is my great grandfather, his son albert mayhugh chesley was father to my mother maycel margaret
chesley. I have found a summary of pertinent data in pension records in the national archives on orin chesley. in it he states that his brothers names were (powell-paul), george, silas, and john. in everything else i have it says his brothers
names were paul, nathan, nahum, john, i also know he had
al least one sister lydia. I also have a letter written to my
grandfather john merle from the commitee on immigration, u.s.
senate per the bureau of pensions; states paul chesley died onjune 26, 1870 at hartford, kansaas. nathan chesley was killed in battle in1862. orin died february 20, 1904 at rushville illinois. there is no record of nim(nahum) and no record of lydia. I have other info stating nahum also died in battle. I am
thinking since orin stated his brothers names these must be
given and middle names but i don't know how they go. how are you related maybe we can exchange information. I sill don't know how we fit in the chesley bunch but my grandmother did a lot of genealogy and she seems to put us in with simon chesley and olive elkins. I also have not been able to find out what their children's names were. if you can help me please email me.
