My g/grandfather William STANIER was a rural postman, born abt 1863 who
lived most of his life and died in what I now believe to be "Riverside
Cottage", 4 Bollin Grove (formerly Bollinside?), Prestbury.
When he married Fanny STATON on 17 August 1884 at St John's Church,
Buglawton, his father is shown as Samuel ROBINSON - deceased. A witness is
Alice STANIER.
Census records show a Samuel ROBINSON and family including a William and an
Alice living at 20 Havannah Street, Buglawton. Samuel's wife is Elizabeth
originally of Bethnal Green, London. Samuel last appears on the 1871 Census.
The 1881 Census shows Elizabeth as Head and Widow.
I am unable to find any other records (and researching from Australia makes
local searches difficult) so I would be very grateful for any info that
would confirm that I am on to the correct ROBINSON family and any further
details on the ancestors of Samuel, Elizabeth, the STANIER stepfather of
William and, of course the STATON family and Bollin Grove.
This is my first approach via a mailing list and I hope I'm not breaching
any protocols or asking too much. Many thanks. Malcolm T.
