Am researching George W. Cheshire and wife Letitia D. (Newton) Cheshire, of
Norfolk VA.
George was born about 1832 (possibly in Norfolk) and died 1879-80 in Norfolk. His
parents were William H. Cheshire and Sarah (?).
George's siblings were William jr, Sarah, Margaret and Thomas.
George and Letitia had 3 children - Edward, Annie Lee and Grace.
Would like to find out more definite information about William and Sarah Cheshire.
Also, any information about Letitia Newton would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I do research on Richard Cheshire,b. 1730 in Baltimore Co., his antecedents
and his descendents. I need information about his parentage, his marriage
and his death date.
J. Jones
Researching Mathew Chesire family of Culmullin, parish of Dunshaughlin,
County Meath, Ireland. After Mathew died in Ireland Julia O'Connell
Cheshire and their five children emigrated to Troy, New York in 1852.
Daughter Catherine married Patrick McGuinness and stayed in Troy. Julia and
sons John, Patrick and Mathew, and daughter Elizabeth went to Dubuque Co.,
Iowa, before 1860, then to Jones County, Iowa shortly thereafter.
Mary Kay
I am researching Thomas CHESHIRE who was born in 1826 in
Trefonen, near Oswestry, Shropshire, England. He sailed to
NY c 1844 and married Elizabeth FRANCIS (b North Wrexham,
Wales) in Chicago, 9/27/1853. Children of this marriage
were: Sarah, Edward, Mary Ellen, Harriet and Margaretta.
Thomas died in Cleveland, OH in 1900.
Captured while scouting for the Union Army in Tennessee,
Thomas was imprisoned at Andersonville. He escaped from
Andersonville, making his way to the Gulf of Mexico where he
was picked up by a Union picket ship.
Brothers of Thomas:
Isaac, born 1830, emigrated to Wisconsin in 1846, married
Ellen Davies about 1860. They moved to Mankato, MN about
1866.
John, born 1828, emigrated to Racine Wisconsin where he
married Mary Burton. They had a daughter, Sarah.
Ed in CA
I am researching the family of James Cheshire born in Dunstable in Bedfordshire circa 1800 and the Cheshire family before that in Eddlesburgh, Bucks.
In the 1830's James and his wife Jane moved to Tring and later Berkhampstead in Herts. I think they were Baptist.
James' son Amos born circa 1821 went to Hounslow near London.
Amos' son John lived in Brentford and later Kew, near Richmond, Surrey.
John and his wife Sarah emigrated to Rockhampton, Queensland in 1895.
Amos had five brothers who all had large families in Berkhampstead Herts and Market Harborough in Norts.
John had 4 brothers who married and lived in Hounslow area.
If anyone has any connection toany of these, i would be very interested.

> Searching for the parents of John Chesher b. abt. 1769 d. abt 1804 VA. He
married Sarah "Sally" Hawkins, daughter of William Hawkins in 1795 in
Fauquier Co. VA. He fathered three children with Sally before he died.
They were William b. 1798 VA d. 1819 OH; James P. b. 1800 VA d. 1858 IN and
a daughter b. about 1803 VA. His widow married Abraham Hill and had
additional children by him. The children of John and Sally Chesher spelled
their last name "Chesser" after moving to Warren Co. Ohio in about 1813. and
the line continues that way today. The spelling "Chesher" is how Cheshire
sounds when pronounced. All the earliest spellings in the records I've seen
before 1750 are spelled "Cheshire". Please help find the parents of John
Chesher (spelled that way in his marriage record in Fauquier, VA)

I believe my Cheshire ancestors are Thomas Barlow from Edge marrying Anne
Caldecott May 22, 1792. They had eight children, one of which was John Barlow
who was baptised December 21, 1800 in Edge, and married Elizabeth Williams
December 28, 1820 They had eleven children. All of the above were in the Malpas
Parish. I have the names and baptism dates for all of them.
