Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Many sources of information re the "ss" spelling are printed or transcribed with "s".
My families are mainly in Warwickshire in 19th Century and the spellings are confused, particularly in 1881 transcription, and the 1851 CD.
The one page of the 1901 Census Index so far seen shows that the problem exists there too.
If there is anyone researching the Cheshire/Chesshire surname, particularly in Warwickshire I would be happy to share data and provide connections to others with similar research interests.
