I am looking for information about Lydia Chesebrough, living in Stonington, Connecticut. She married Elihu Chesebrough 20 March 1791. She died 31 May 1841. Their children included: Elihu, Dennison, Lydia, Gilbert, Prudence, Ethan Allen, Frederick, Lydia, Amelia, and Mary Ann.
Specifically, I am looking for information about Lydia‘s parents. There are 2 Lydia’s born in Stonington, only 4 years apart. One is the daughter of Zebulon and Lydia Chesebrough, and the other, the daughter of Amos and Mary Chesebrough.
My family has always maintained (over several generations) that our Lydia, who married Elihu, was the daughter of Amos. However, several published accounts that I’ve come across lately say that she’s the daughter of Zebulon.
Does anyone have any kind of documentation that may definitively prove who Lydia‘s parents are, other than already published accounts.
